They have scaled back regional news bulletins this Christmas on ITV1. As well as no bulletins at all on Christmas Eve which also occured last year, there are also no late bulletins today or tomorrow either, whereas there usually would be.

I think it's been that way a couple of years now.

They had late bulletins on weekdays between Christmas and New Year last year.

They used to have Daybreak & Lunchtime bulletins on Christmas Eve up until 2010 meaning they could knock off early after lunch. Christmas Eve in 2011 was a Saturday meaning there was obviously no Daybreak or lunchtime bulletin hence no bulletins at all. As Christmas Eve was a Monday this year, there should really have been a lunchtime bulletin once more.

They had late regional news last year on 28th-30th. Also, in 2010, there was a regional lunchtime bulletin on Xmas Eve.

Odd intro on the 18.45 bulletin with no title card and instead a wide shot of the studio with the music over, along no voiceover (which sometimes does happen).

Yes, they've done that intro before but I think it works much better with the jib rather than the still shot, only because the camera's so far back on the still shot. I know we found out from Matt that the camera can't be moved more forward, but perhaps zooming in a bit would make it look less cold and vast?

The wide shot on the 1845 tonight was on the jib, rather than the static shot, so there was a little movement on-shot there. And the reason the static wide shot is framed the way it is is so that it gets all three rear graphic panels in the shot. Also, that opening sequence was chosen tonight to make it shorter and therefore fit more news into the bulletin!

Ah right, thanks for that info - didn't see the bulletins today!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask-say this but are the itv regional news teams getting new studios or are they just getting a deep clean?
In my opinion they are starting to look very tatty now. And correct me if I'm wrong that all the regional studios have had the same studio since 2004 when itv wanted all of them to look the same? and i know there has been a few color changes since then.
I have always preferred itv regional studios to the BBC. Confused

I remember one year we had the luxury of a half hour regional programme on New Years Eve, Ben Schotchbrook and Salma Siraj on London Tonight followed by only 15 minutes of national news. And for some regions they deemed the Christmas regional bulletins long enough to be presented by two people, Meridian IIRC had Debbie Thrower and Simon Clemison for an 18 minute bulletin. Those were days.

From previous posts on here I believe they're getting new studios, with four regions (I think it was Central, Granada, London and possibly Wales) having the new studio from launch, with others to follow later in the year.

Indeed, with Central's being the oldest Jago set of it's kind they're high on the list (they have 2 of them at Gas Street, one's in bits under a tarp in the courtyard!)

Has the new look been confirmed for a specific date yet?

It looks like it might be 14th January - that is assuming Christine Talbot's return date to Calendar coincides which you would expect it to

I'm glad to hear that regional itv are getting new studios rather than a deep clean or color change. will all the studios be the same?-I think it looks much better! And where will the regional news go while their studios are changed? Will some still carry the yellow branding and graphics while the others have changed? and why can't they do it all at once?

I would expect London to get the new set first as they share with nationals and it's a virtual reality set up,

It's been said on here the first four London, Granada, Central and West (not Wales Brekkie) are going first at the time of the relaunch.

Obviously the fact London probably just needs new furniture means if they were only doing one set at a time, another region could launch a physical set at the same tome.
