Bear in mind that early listings in 2008 listed ITV's US election coverage as being from 12am to 4am - it actually ran from around 11:25pm until 6:00am. So it's probably best not to assume that the News at 5:30 will be airing (not that anyone really watches it. Apart from a select few, of course.)

As for studios, surely they'll do what they did in 2008 and just use the current studio with a slightly different design? A US election is, I'd argue, not important enough domestically to warrant a separate studio being constructed. UK coverage yes, US not really. Although it's up to ITV News what they do!

The 2008 studio was rather nice IIRC - actually one of the better variations of the old theatre of news.

Is there any definitive result at 6am UK time, as I would imagine the vote count will still be ongoing after the Election special finishes...

Daybreak will probably carry the coverage on, with an ITN presenter/correspondent in the Election studio.

In 2008, according to NPR, the result was known at 10.01pm local time in Chicago, 4.01am in the UK. So it's quite possible that the result could be known before 6am. That said, it all depends on how close the race is.

Very (and I mean very !) brief peek at ITV's US election graphics for this year on tonight's News at Ten (behind Mark and Julie during the report intro) - nothing fancy though, just "America Decides 2012" in large letters on a blue background... clean and simple! Nice font too - not the ITV one.

The studio design looks nice in this video, just goes to show how valuable the VR set is to ITV News - they really can make it look very different while still tying it back to the brand. The only thing that throws me off is the red gradient under the desk plinth!

I'm sure I've heard that 2008 theme somewhere else (On NBC I think)? All of the graphics there can easily ne modified to work on normal bullitens.

It was very NBC-ish back in 2008. Did ITV News drop in and out of NBC coverage then or not?

And am I right in thinking NBC reporters were giving info as well as to what was going on?

Anyone heard anything about the upcoming News revamp in January? Do we know anything about the set or colours?

And anyone in a position to agree or disagree with the assertion the new corporate logo does not suit News and Factual programming and will be difficult to incorporate into pres with any kind of authority.
