Apologies if this has been previously mentioned; I don't visit the ITV News thread much, so if I missed this previously, sorry!

I was watching Battleship last night, and spotted this rather unexpected insert:

*

Obviously, the 21:9 aspect ratio and dodgy graphics are just a mock-up for the movie, but I think this is the first time I've ever seen an ITV News placement in an international film. Most international movie efforts (and Hollywood in particular) default either to BBC News/BBC World News (such as in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, or Poseidon), or even Sky News (I think I recall seeing Sky News in movies as far back as the mid 1990s).

I believe Bob Friend, for example, was featured in Independence Day because Murdoch was planning a Sky News US; he eventually launched Fox News.

Indeed, Independence Day is the example from back then that came to my mind too.

Nice closing shot on tonights 6.30, like Sir Alistair Burnet's tribute close except the camera didn't go as low and moved off to the right and then upwards. Got cut off just as it was getting good!

yeah, I would be nice if the slowly zoomed downwards from the desk and then moved back and then got higher to eventually show a birds eye view of the studio.. DO THIS

Interesting. I saw that too and wondered what it was about?

BTW, the ITV rebrand (including ITV News) is slated for mid-Jan launch. Not sure if that was discussed already.

Why is there confusion about the NAT trailer? It's always been there. It normally airs just after quarter to ten, at the end of the ad break - of course football coverage shoved the news to 10:10, hence the trailer airing at around 10pm earlier. It looked strange because the trailer started too late, hence Alastair being cut-off mid-sentence.

Thanks for the update. Part of me hopes they'll return to a NAT-style look, clean and professional. You mentioned "rebrand" rather than "refresh" or "realignment". Complete overhaul then, Sky? Can you give us a tiny TVF scoop? Wink Laughing

Not a trailer, just a break bumper like the ITV1
