You still haven't answered my point from a few days ago about the logistical nightmare of relocating ITV News to TLS whilst still maintaining links with ITN. Not only do the 'talent' work on different programmes on the same day, so do many, many technical staff. Having them flit from here to there across London would be horrendous. I can tell you now that when the power went off at GIR just before News at Ten in 2010, it was a nightmare when the team had to make their own way to Millbank. Or are you suggesting that ITN gets dumped and the whole operation moves in-house to ITV? I wouldn't like to see that day ever come, as it would mean the end of ITN. That would be one hell of a sad day for television just so you can have a window on the news Rolling Eyes

Woa hold on there, Rob, fantasy update: we've long since moved onto the creation of a virtual TLS 7 model in Studio 2 designed for both ITV News and LT to share, complete with a time-delayed "window" so it can be daytime all the time.

Aha. Something tells me Mr K isn't taking the TLS 7 abandonment well.

LOL, thanks Jonny. He's making my head spin. He has no idea what he's on about.

DanielK, you dream up whatever you want. Suffice it to say, it'll never happen.

Did anyone else Bar STV jump the gun and went early to Evening news? We saw the Black block, then we saw Alistair stewart working on his jacket then few secs later started.

The practice of cutting straight from Alastair in the studio to Mark at the Olympic Park with no "that's all from me" or "thank you Alastair" really grates. I know it's probably done to allow the bulletin to run smoother but it does come across as quite "cold" (for want of a better term!)

Other than that I feel they're doing a fine job of covering the events. It's just a bugbear of mine - they always seem to cut the pleasantries when one newscaster is on location.

Quite a nice opening shot on tonights NAT, camera was facing up to Mark Austin's panel and lifted to the normal heigh and swept past the desk.

a bit, although there was space between the end panel on the titles and the OB panel, and of course the camera angle

in this one, it looks like Alistair is nodding along with the music after the titles,

They've done that for the last year or so and I really don't like it - and I'd argue the bulletin would run smoothly with such pleasantries, and it takes a few seconds at most.

A very nice closing shot on news at ten of London lit up, it looked a bit like the 2008 titles.

Indeed I was just going to say the same thing. Looked very nice indeed. Pre-recorded/stock footage I guess?

I assume pre-recorded as Mark made reference to the site shinning a lot earlier on in the program so I assume it was the same footage.
