Mark Austin ended ITV News at Ten tonight saying the team will be coming from the Olympic Park tomorrow, looking forward to see what their view is direct from the Park itself.

We've been broadcasting from our studio at the Olympic Park for about a month now!

Have you?

Yes.

Yes, have you? I have only seen correspondents reporting live from the Olympic Park doing different types of news pieces unless I've missed something. What I really meant was will the whole presenting team be there tonight?

Mark Austin is live at the Olympic park, in an open air studio with no seating area. Whilst Alastair Stewart is back at ITN.

Mark Austin at the Olympic Park studio and Alistair at ITN, News at 5.30 style titles came on after the bongs and cut through the panels to Alistair working at the desk and Mark on a special live panel away from the virtual wall.

Jib operator is at the Olympic park hence the static studio shot.

Yeah he tweeted that earlier. So the camera peds can't move ? (obviously they can, just it allowed by the VR?)

Coming back from the break, Mark's live panel is gone and the establishing shot had a subtle movement.

Is the studio where Mark was the same studio London Tonight have been using for their programmes at 6pm?

And also why didn't both Al and Mark do the whole show from the Olympic park it seems stupid if they are going to have the two presenters separated for the next 2 and half weeks?!

No, London Tonight are in a separate studio. As for the anchoring, I think ITV News would argue that non-Olympic news presented from the Olympic Park is sillier than having two presenters "separated" for the duration. And I'd agree with that.

ITV always split their presenters for big events or stories, the only recent exceptions I can think of are the Royal Wedding and Diamond Jubilee. But they presented the 'other news' bit from in front of Buckingham Palace and it looked ridiculous whilst detracting from the other stories.

The BBC have gone a few years with single headed bulletins. ITV can manage two weeks.

I agree entirely. A much better decision.

It depends on the studio - if it is just one man and a cameraman splitting is right, but if they do have a mini-studio on site similar to the BBC I'd personally use it completely for two weeks. After all the Olympic Park is only a live real backdrop - and we love those on news, however London centric they may be.
