'They had come to watch The Dark Knight Rises. It was indeed a dark night'.

Why, Bill Neely, why?

Yes! I cringed at that too. That was unneccessary for such a serious report. Mad

Picking up the News at Ten (Thirty) debate from the Alastair Burnett thread - I don't mind it being moved the odd Friday and it is just bad luck it isn't on when Alastair Burnett has died, but I do think it's a mistake that they're not hitting the 10pm start in two of the most newsworthy weeks of recent times considering there is a lot to cover from a news angle in the build up to the Olympics.

Superstar could easily have aired at 8.30pm this week, with displaced Corrie filling the 8pm slots where required - and considering the BBC are managing not to move their 10pm news during the Olympics other than for the opening ceremony (though that is a channel switch rather than time switch) I see no reason for ITV to move theirs. I think even during the "News at When" era they didn't move it for a full week.

What a nice surprise at the end there, and a lovely tribute.

A superb ending to the program there and a great tribute by Alistair. Video on it's way.

News at Ten (Thirty) closing with the original theme and a still of Mr. Burnet instead of the ITN endcap. What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful newscaster.

Very fitting. Glad they went to the effort of digging out the old closing theme tape. Well done, ITN.

Indeed, they got the tone right and I liked Alastair's sign off too.

I had a feeling the old News at Ten theme might make an appearance. A lovely tribute. Alastair Stewart composed and professional as always.

Watching it back on my PVR, it's just amazing how fresh and authoritative the original NAT theme still sounds. The current closing music pales in comparison to that.

Fitting end to the bulliten, like how the lights actually went down instead of a filter over the studio.

Here's the tribute for those who missed it.
