If the current V/O is various parts, e.g 'This is the ITV News', 'at Ten', 'with', 'Mark Austin', 'and', 'Julie Etchingham'' then why do the voiceovers for Nina Hossain, Alistair Stewart (when alone)' Romily Weeks, James Mates and Natasha Kaplinsky (possibly others) not have time checks?

From day 1, The 1:30 bulletin and the weekend news never had voiceovers and the VoiceOver was simply 'This is ITV News with (Name)' The Ten, 6:30 & 5:30 were the only one to have a time check 'This is the ITV News at (10:00/6:0/ 5:30) with (Name)'

Due to the fact that the 130 news actually starts at 127 and the weekend news is all over the place never really having a fixed time (well except the 925 headlines nowadays).

Oh right! Who sponsors the weather now? On Daybreak, Topps Tiles says it sponsors the ITV National Weather and on the regions it sponsors the Local Weather although after each ITV News bullitens it is sponsored by Seven Seas JointCare? Someone making a huge mistake or two separate sponsors?

That's because it's part of ITV Breakfast, as it's the same with the Daybreak Scottish News, they are sponsored by Topps Tiles.

But CR Smith sponsor the ITV Weather on STV at all other times.

So then it shouldn't be saying ITV National/Local Weather? Something like ITV Breakfast National/Local Weather or National/Local Breakfast Weather

No because it's a national weather forecast....

They could just say sponsors 'Daybreak weather' as 'ITV Breakfast is not really referred to on air.

Are you still in your fantasy world where everything to do with the Channel 3 Breakfast franchise has to be branded as "ITV Breakfast Ltd"?

The breakfast weather slots could be branded as the Coca Cola National / Local Weather if they got permission from Coke. There isn't some law which says you mustn't mention ITV between 0600 and 0925, excepting on the occaision that one proceeds to immediately say "Breakfast".

Just on the subject of the current voiceovers, they're not in actual bits as DanielK suggests. It's not a case of a computer putting them together on the fly; they actually exist as properly recorded and/or edited wav files. As has been pointed out, the reason for the lack of a time check at lunchtime is due to the early start time. There are actually 4 main sets of voiceovers: generic (for lunchtime and weekend), 0530, 630 and Ten. They've been added to as time has gone on. Originally all the main combinations were recorded by the voiceover artist, but as new presenters have emerged he's been back to record new ones. Sometimes new combinations of existing presenters have been needed on short notice, so these are usually edited by the sound engineers prior to transmission.

You may not know that originally it was planned to use a female voiceover artist and the time was going to be included for the lunchtime bulletin. But both of these decisions were reversed before launch.
