Looks like all of the bullitens (possibly not the 5.30) use the proper title sequence transition, where the camera comes alongside the panels and a seamless transition to the right of the studio, rather than the camera going through the panels at a angle then the final panel splitting in half and the map being skewed.

Isn't that what it's always been like?
Indeed it has. I too was rather bemused as to why it's taken DanielK nearly 3 years to notice that.
No, the transition on the 5.30 and 1.30 was the same as the summary, the end it went through the panels and cut the final in half, and the opening shot for the 5.30 was the summary opener, and the 1.30 opening shot was the normal one. The 6.30 and Ten had the transition where the camera comes alongside the panels, facing them then swiping to the right of the studio!

That might have been true on the first day, but as the poor quality clip below shows, it wasn't like that afterwards.

That situation didn't last very long at all. I can't remember when exactly the Lunchtime News started using the titles that sweep across the studio but it had certainly happened by 2010. It probably happened whenever a jib camera operator was assigned to the Lunchtime News, as that sweeping shot is done by the jib. That happened ages ago. Just take a look at TV Ark if you don't believe me.
I don't see the Morning News very much, but AIUI that has always used the generic titles due to it being staffed by a skeleton crew. That way they don't need to faff about inserting relevant images into the titles. Heck, there isn't even a sound engineer on that bulletin... tells you how small the crew is. Plus, the proper titles would need a jib camera operator in order to create the transition shot from the titles to the studio.

They seemed to have a jib operator in the first new-look edition, but they picked the non-sweeping shot for some reason.

The morning news at a launch at the generic titles with no images relavant to the news that morning and then they split the final panel for the long shot of the studio. However, recently (I'm not sure how recently it's possibly been like that for a long time) they have stated using the titles with news images I assume it's the previous nights News at Ten titles?

You're right, come to think of it I think the programme got a camera operator once more during the previous era. It was certainly a while ago now. No idea then why they chose those titles on the first day. I really don't think they lasted very long at all though.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I strongly suspect it will be the previous night's NAT titles.
If the current V/O is various parts, e.g 'This is the ITV News', 'at Ten', 'with', 'Mark Austin', 'and', 'Julie Etchingham'' then why do the voiceovers for Nina Hossain, Alistair Stewart (when alone)' Romily Weeks, James Mates and Natasha Kaplinsky (possibly others) not have time checks?

They do, there has never been a 'Time check' for the lunchtime news....
