I always wonder why the Lunchtime News remains at its normal length on bank holidays... surely they must find it difficult to fill the slot from time to time on those days!
It's not always full length - they weren't on Good Friday/Easter Monday. Guess it depends on what else ITV1 want to show and how long is left for the news. Around Christmas/New Year it's sometimes been as much as 40 minutes (including regional news) - i.e. longer than normal

Yeah I think they just see how much quota they need they need to fill, and what eles is in the schedule, in the same instance the weekend lunchtime can be anything between 5-20 minutes.
This is purely a scheduling decision as dictated by ITV, and nothing to do with quotas as far as I'm aware. The network usually confirms the TX and duration for weekend and Bank Holiday bulletins (as well as for the week ahead) late on Friday afternoon.

Surely it wouldn't be decided that late as it'd need to be correct in the listings guides, which IIRC correctly is finalised on a Wednesday the week before.

This morning, the 5:30 news used a report from London Tonight on the courts to be close during the Olympics, which kind of effects the country, so it was fine. But at the end Ronke Williams ended with 'For London Tonight' surely they could of cut that out, just seems a bit sloppy considering I'm watching for Tyne Tees!
That often happens on the BBC News Channel where regional reports are aired in the evenings and local programme credits are given. Yes, it would be better if they could re-do the closing voice sequence, but it is not the end of the world!
Yes, but this is the prestigious 5.30 bulletin; its viewer expects certain standards.
I am not sure that the 5.30 bulletin is really that prestigious. I don't know the figures, but I would guess the viewing figures are no higher than evenings on the BBC News Channel, it has a huge rota of presenters and only includes re worked material from the night before. Although it would be neater if they re-did the closing phrase, there are plenty of other improvements that are more needed for that bulletin!

I think there was a slight whiff of sarcasm in the original post.

Do you think? I think he was being serious. (And this is not the continuation of alleged sarcasm)

Yes because I can't mention the 5:30 bulletin any more after a whole sharrade in the other thread!

Actually, you're quite right.
Thinking about it, the advisories issued on Friday are more to do with precise on and off air times for bulletins, rather than general scheduling for listing purposes. As we all know, bulletins like NAT may be listed for 2200 but the actual on-air time is often confirmed internally as something like 22:01:30 etc. Off air times are also confirmed in this way.
