I wonder if ITV News will ever break out of the virtual studio in future ?

To me, virtual has lot's of potential, but it's not used to any particular effect now since the 'Theatre of News' frame / platform were taken down, it's just a backdrop.

I think for the next revamp it should be back to bringing in some real elements. Virtual has had it's day.

I'm split on this actually. Take the current and previous looks: both are virtual, but I'm sure most would agree that the London skyline backdrop was one of the best "sets" ever used for an ITV bulletin. That night-time view, though synthetic, was totally breathtaking. In stark contrast, the current design just looks like a mish-mash of rectangles.

Then again, there have also been awful "real" sets. Remember 1999-2004?

It all depends on who is designing the set, I suppose. Did the same people design the NAT '08 and the current backdrop...?

I know this is jumping the gun a bit, but if this change did take place, surely they would take the opportunity to rebrand etc again?

I would hope so. Wink But, as awful as the current branding is, I do think that an editorial revamp needs to happen first. And fire whoever's doing the graphics - talk about taking the mick! Some of the graphics designed lately look like they've been done for a children's programme or something.

She should add a few extra viewers tonight. I'm sure on 5 News ratings shot up when she presented.

News At Ten too no doubt, on Fridays the presenters always presnet both bulletins, so maybe ITV will overtake the BBC at long last.

Thought they might have Andrea host it live on location.

I think for most she's a turn off than a turn on.

It's been a long time since she's presented a proper news bulletin from a desk - although there are many other faces I'd rather see on ITV News than her. I'd stick her on the BBC NC where there's less people watching...

That is what I was hoping.

Just caught part two of the Evening News and... meh Confused . Nothing to write home about. I've never been impressed with her delivery, even when she did the BBC Six. Her voice is very weak and monotonous and as such I really don't get what others see in her. Not ITV News's greatest ever appointment, in my opinion. I much prefer Julie, Mary and Nina.

I take it she hasn't hosted the 1.30pm news yet then.
