Ooh, News at Ten tonight with Alastair Stewart and Sandy Gall... well, sort of! There'll be a report on Sandy's extensive charity work and his most recent honour tonight at ten (there was a brief 'coming up' clip showing Alastair and Sandy trawling the streets of London). Should be a good piece. Although I don't really remember Sandy on the news, I'm aware of him as one of ITV's best war correspondents and a top notch newscaster.

How can I get to see that? The ITV News website doesn't allow us access from overseas. Crying or Very sad

Sandy Gall was the best newscaster who ever existed.

Does anyone know anything about that for mac? Would love to use ITV Palyer, BBC I Player... etc...

Strange that Mark Austin's appeared in Libya now. Fair enough when the events just started and it's a big news story, but its sort of died down a little now. Presenter's being on location for say Haiti or even the Eygpt uprising last month are fair enough and did add something because it took of a lot of the programme, but really Mark doing a few links lasting about 2 minutes is hardly worthwhile, don't you think?

I actually think its about time one of our major networks sent a presenter over there. Sky have had Andrew Wilson in Benghazi for over a week now, and I have to say I'm pleased ITV have sent Mark. Afterall, the BBC sent George to Egypt when it was having its revoloution so I'm surprised they haven't sent anybody this time (although I assume there are a lot more restrictions in Libya)

I'm also glad ITV have led with the story tonight, I am surprised the BBC News at Six led with the police story - especially after so many reports throughout the day of fierce battles in Zawiyah.

Oh no I do get your point that thet should have sent him over thei, but it just seems strange as you say Andrew Wilson has been in Benghazi for over a week now, all I was saying was they should have sent him when the story started rather than over a week later when, whilst the story is still important, has 'died down' in terms of coverage. Plus I always fine that when they sent one of the main anchors, great reporters like Bill Neely aren't seen as much.

What with all these revoloution' in the Middle East of late, they might aswel stay a month or two! Wink

I totally agree, very unusual! To add to that Andrea I doubt will be presenting with Mark in Tripoli.

David Mannion is leaving:

(before he returned to ITV News he briefly presented a Sunday afternoon show on LBC, which was then run by ITN - it was rather good - I hope he does more broadcasting of that sort in his retirement)

Sad to hear he's leaving ITN, I wish him a pleasant retirement. He really helped to build up ITV News for some years into a credible and watchable service - here I'm thinking around the time of the Iraq invasion in 2003.

I can't help feeling, though, that the wrong person is leaving ITV News...
