There has been a page set up for the royal wedding, looks much nicer than the main News page as its centre aligned

The extended closing theme used to display all the Egypt credits, not sure if if anyone else noticed but but did the closing theme sound a tad more jingly than normal?

Anyone able to capture it on ITV1+1 in a bit?

Just watched it on itv.com and it's just the normal News at Ten closing music.

Which is extended compared to the other edit they usually use for the other bulletins.

Yes, that's right - it has a longer build before the main motif.

Yes it is. See here for the closing music used on the other bulletins: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZ0BxFtz9Fk. Incidentally that's a nice closing shot - why do they never use it any more?

Also, here's a clip of the shortlived Late News: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaUMXDaZdFU

I never liked the "News at Ten in all but name" situation but I think they missed a trick there. Notice the "XI" logo on the glass screen. It would be interesting to see an 'ITV News look' built around that idea... i.e., each bulletin having its own feel while tied into a unified brand ("I" for lunchtime news, "VI" for evening news, obviously "X" for NAT... maybe having the other, unfixed bulletins use a generic "XII" logo. Just a wacky thought!)

That wouldn't work though as the lunch and evening news is at half past the hour.

I'm not sure why this occurred but maybe somebody else knows...? Seeing as the others kept their titles, I would (lazily) guess that this was done to include more coverage of the news itself by cutting out those valuable seconds - remember the 5:40pm news only ran for just less than 20 minutes back then (but this theory is most likely wrong, I'm not sure how much difference a few seconds would make!!)

That may well be the reason. The 5:40 news didn't actually last more much more than 15 minutes.

IIRC it was moved from 5:45 when ITV started doing a national weather forecast, which started at around 5:57 and was before the main regional news programmes which started at 6pm.

I'm sure there were also adverts and/or trailers within the 5:55 to 6pm gap, as well as the national weather.

Perhaps it's because the 'sweeping shot' around the desk shows up some bad rendering on the CGI yellow squares. The one seen edge on appears to leap a few inches off the desk.
