Interesting interview with Alastair Stewart about his career and a lot about the first pre-election debate...

Not sure about that opening report on NAT just now. Too much focus on the relationship between the Labour party members and speculation on Alan Johnson's reasons for stepping down, which isn't really what I want to know about - I'd much rather hear how Ed Balls' promotion will assist Labour's rise back up to the top (i.e., how they'll convince me to vote for them! Laughing ).
(oh - that was covered briefly just now in the live link to Chris Ship but deserved to be covered in detail in the report itself)

And as for that "telescope" graphic showing the reshuffle in the Labour party... eugh.

Either just short staffed or now with DOI, like pre Christmas when you've got big show's like Downton Abbey getting 9m+ viewers and the news is after then of course you going to put a "bigger" name on. Only thing is - if they do a Sunday. they always seem to have an extra day of in the week.

Charlene White did the Lunchtime update and the tv guide did state this

Julie Etchingham did the early evening as well as the Late and the tv guide synopsis did state this

Is it me or has today's ITV News been really bad today - near enough a promotional video for Save the Children for the & Finally story( how strange - as I'm sure Alastair is a Save the Children patron Wink ) , with obligitarty overdramatic "Whilst watching this programme a hundered children would have died and then on the NAT promo - a story about Lucy Manning seeing the Downing Street rat! Rolling Eyes Fair enough if it's an & Finally story - but it just makes me cringe when they put it in the promo!

You know, I did wonder why they were covering that story but it all became clear when they started mentioning Save the Children - it wasn't news, it was a charity ad. Especially that intro, which was just plain guff Rolling Eyes Don't they have a partnership with STC in their 'Filming Their Future' Haiti reports? I guess that's why they were covering this "story".

That NAT promo made me wince! Who really would choose to watch it these days? I've almost given up watching it on the off-chance that it might just be a decent bulletin for once.

Also isn't it weird how on many days the Lunchtime News seems more credible than News at Ten?! It was the opposite a short while ago! Confused

The senior presenters do Sundays on a rota basis it seems, well during the Winter months anyway.

I really don't understand the direction of ITV News at the moment.

Once again tonight, presenters plugging a 'live chat' on itv.com/news. Tonight, a chat with Natalie Perks about sexism in football. I dont know, but I can't see them being very popular. A wasted effort, maybe? Like the 'News Unplugged' and everything a few years back.

If anything, bosses need to focus on the programmes themselves, lately its becoming very sensational. Tonight's top story was really over the top in terms of language used, I can't remember them off the top of my head but it came across as Newsround type speak.

About time they realised how awful the current branding is too.

John Ray was refered tonas the middle east correspondent, this is obviously because Rohit is now Africa correspondent. Guess we can now presume that Julian Manyon is no longer with ITV.

I think Julian Manyon has now retired from ITN.

Rohit was previously Crime Correspondent, John Ray has been Middle East Correspondent since the changes made a few months ago - he hasn't been given a new title.
