I Have to agree at lunchtime and weekends it's not so bad but when you get the 6:30 and 10 it is of very poor quality and full of gimmicks such as the people's panel. I would also say they need to look at the Morning News as it is more or less just repeating the reports of the last nights news at 10.
God... ITV News could
seriously
do with an editorial relaunch - and quick. I'll not say any more because I'd only end up repeating myself.
... but feel free to post in agreement/disagreement...

It used to be the other way around I.e lunchtimes used to be the most tabloidly. Morning News is the least of there worries as it get such a small viwership - it's alwyas virtually copied the previous night. But just watching tonight I thought I might consider switiching full time to the BBC. The reason - all the critisisms we've all made before - poor set, gimicky, poor graphics, poor 'human interest' editorial stance etc. But more so lately because I'm finding my local news (London Tonight) almost unwatchable since it became single headed and obvioulsy if I want to watch the local news on the BBC it's on at the same time as the EN. For example the David Beckham non-story, the amount of times I got told about it: Start of local news, "coming up on London Tonight", actual story, Start of EN, "still to come on tonights EN", actual story. That's 6 times!!

Would be really interested to know a bit more about what aspects of tonight's evening bulletin you thought were so poor ... perhaps you could flesh this out a bit with some examples?
I actually posted that in light of tonight's 6:30pm news, which was a really classic example of ITV News' poor qualities.

Did Alaistair present the 6:30 news yesterday? I saw him on the 1:30 and NaT, someone must have been sick!

Yes he did.

Its just very unusual to have the same presenter on the three flagship news programs in one day especially considering the 1st and last are 8 and a half hours apart. It would be unheard of for Huw Edwards to to the 1, 6 and ten o'clock news on bbc.

Alaistair often presents both the 1.30 and 6.30 and also covers on News at Ten so it doesn't necessarily mean someone was off sick. Maybe on holidays or working on other projects?
