I do like the effects used for the national weather map on this video:
http://www.itv.com/anglia/wintry-weather-update41210/

It looks very nice.
If those sort of graphics exist, why can't the national use them.
Then again it's a bit like how some regions have a cloud background over the sea parts (doesn't make sense now I've written it down), but it looks better than the standard plain look.

Did I read somewhere that ITV weather was to have a new look 2011?

Where do guideline stand with Weather inserts into the news? Obviously they do them as part of Breakfast & Daybreak, plus on the news channels, but could the national weather be inserted into the end of the main news including sponsor similar to some regional news programmes. Could the weather be broadcast from the ITV News studio.

Bit late now, but the closing camera shot on ITV News at Ten last night was my idea. Wasn't quite how I was picturing it, but still loved it.

The camera guy is on Twitter and asked for new ideas for the closing jib shot Smile

Don't ask why I was so please, I really am so easily pleased! Haha

Yes, when I was on work experience in Leeds recently, I found out that ITV weather will be getting a new look next year.

I know for many they'd prefer more substance over style, but aesthetically speaking I think I'd prefer them to go back to more real elements in the studio.

Bit bored of virtual now. Theatre of news wasn't bad because there was a physical structure and walkway, but this backdrop is just, meh.

I haven't been impressed with the quality of ITV News reports over the past few months - but Juliet Bremner's opening story on the second round of student protests on NAT is absolutely great; everything a news report should be, no gimmicks in sight but not boring fact after fact either. Even the live link to Tom Bradby's little 'speech' wasn't unbearable. Now why can't it be like that all the time? Smile

I Agree Juliet's report was of the highest standard and in the defence of ITV News it does seem to have got better over the last few weeks. I also thought Livi's report was excellent and I think the gimmicks apart from this Peoples Panel thing are being kept low and I also like Geriant's recent reports on life on the front line.

Not sure if this is limited to ITV London and ITV Meridian but they now have a sponsor for the sport report, anglian home improvements and like ITV Central they show two stings at the start and at the end.

3.46m for last night's 10.30pm bulletin - not that I want to start that old debate again! Wink

Strange - don't think it's been that boosted by IAC this series. I suppose IAC being on till 10:30 meant that normal BBC News viewers didn't switch come 10pm and so if they wantd their news had to stay with ITV.

This also has started here in Granada.

Was it my imagination or did I notie a slight change in the pictures during last night's News At Ten sequence? I wasn't sure if the David Beckham one was gone and the Clock one wa sin a different place. I tried to re-wind but my Sky+ HD Box went funny (Again).

They could do with a refresh, good sequence but new background pictures.

Some, er... "interesting" graphics used in tonight's reports about "The Big Freeze" Mark II... Shocked Poor and OTT... what a combination!

The titles had the usual pictures tonight. With the current titles, only the main five screens really need new pictures every bulletin, the background pictures are of no consequence. The titles need a refresh but just changing the background images would be a lazy approach (wouldn't surprise me though if something like that actually happened).
