I thought James Mates was meant to be the regular Sunday presenter? Perhaps Julie was just covering as he wasn't available last night??

James usually does do Sundays, however presumably he was unavailable, therefore someone had to stand in because romilly is on maternity, Nina now works weekdays, geraint is at camp hope, steve is in delhi, and Andrea obviously would have had a lot of work load.

I'm not 100% sure, but don't quite a few people on here accuse Tom Bradby of being too pro-tory.

Personally, I think he's just anti-Government. In the run-up to the Election, he was quite scathing about Labour at times and now he's exactly the same about the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats. The sooner ITV get shut of him, the better. I much prefer Chris Ship and Libby Wiener. Their reports are definitely more balanced. Plus, they're not irritating to watch.

Tom Bradby is the very reason I don't watch ITV News. There are a lot of other talented reporters who could do the job ten times better than he could. His reports are full of cliché and journalese, and as observed by others, tend to be a little too opinionated for my liking.

If I wanted to digest an anti government rant I could pick up a copy of the Daily Mail. Leave the **** stirring to the rags and report the facts for god's sake.

Over promoted is always a term that came to mind when I think about him.

Bradby was the weakest link in the ITV election night coverage. He just seemed very amateur.

The Sunday bulletins are some of the most watched ITV News programmes of the week. Why would they have an unknown morning presenter, when they can have one of the main presenters?

Also, presenters have contracts which often stipulate the number of hours and/or which days of the week they work. Just because a presenter works for a channel doesn't mean they're on call 24/7. ginofish, how do you know that Chris Ship or Daisy McAndrew haven't just worked a long stint and are due some days off and/or are on annual or sick leave?

James Mates just announced that there would be no national weather after the Lunchtime News due to a "technical problem".
