I'm sure it's green screen because I remember bill Neely pointed behind him to show the White house, although it was just a blank screen.

He would have difficulty pointing out the White House from that position, since the background is the US Congress and the White House is in the opposite direction.

Ouch.

some of the newer reporters on ITV News are just a joke. Stephen Douglass and Lewis Vaughan are very, very weak and completely lack authority. The likes of Emma Murphy, Helen Callaghan and Rohit Katchroo are a cut above.

Levis Vaughn Jones was just about okay on London Tonight, be even just for a general reporter his not too great on the national news.

Stephen Douglass, Helen Callaghan and Rohit are a better - but are just average really. Okay for general reporters i think.

Emma Murphy is proberly the better of the lot. But some of the reports are a quite "sensonalist" I find( Even by ITV News standards!) But that could just be coming from above at ITV News.

I very rarely watch the news at 5:30 and maybe 1:30, however i have noticed that there are a few more reporters for these bulletins such as Yao chin, sacha Williams - are these regional reporters?

Sascha Williams is with Anglia I believe.

Some of the posts here are quite laughable.

Do any of you honestly think that Lawrence McGinty and Steve Scott would be moved from their current positions?

/ UK Editor : Rohit Katchroo or Juliet Bremner

Rohit Katchroo - honestly at best, his is a general reporter.

I agree with you - he is absolutely nowhere near as experienced or authoritative as other reporters. As for the talk about Angus Walker becoming Political Editor, I have always thought James Mates would be a natural in that role. He really excelled himself during ITV's Election 2010 coverage and comes across as a hell of a lot more trustworthy and heavyweight than Tom Bradby.

On the subject - Stephen Douglas and Lewis Vaughan-Jones have to be two of the weakest ITN reporters I've seen in a long time.

Finally, somebody talking some sense here. Tx BBCNicky.

i thought Lewis Vaughn Jones was covering maternity leave ?

Stephen and Rohit are good and one of them would make a good UK Editor .

Helen Callaghan I don't think is good enough . Emma Murphy is Ok but itv over rate her .

I very rarley see the 5:30 but I thought the idea was to have a main newscaster (Fay Barker) and not like it used to be were anyone who worked for London Tonight would present it , I know she is having a baby but is there need for that many cover presenters?.

The 5:30 news do usually have quite a few presenters. Faye barker (as you say) is the main newscaster and is on maternity. Charlene is deputy. Sangeeta and Alexandra are reliefs. As for the others (jon gilbert, steve clamp, jackie kabler), they do freelance work I think and steve is also intergrated in one of the regions.

Edit: Is anyone else experiencing problems with the ITV News website?

I gather the new UK Editor will be Keir Simmons, for better or worse...

Hi Keir,

Ive just been looking on tvforum.co.uk, and it appears that there is strong speculation that you are to become UK Editor.

Could you please confirm.

Thank You.

Keir Simmons 20 August at 15:33
Hi - can't confirm that right now, but an announcement isn't far off I think.
