No, they are all produced by ITN. For some reason the Morning News (or News at 5.30 as they like to call it now) has never really been promoted.

Can people actually see Helen fitting in on ITV News though? I really really can't. She should go back to Sky News as the new face of Afternoon Live so we are rid of the "KAY BURLEY".

The News at 5.30 isn't really worth promoting. It exists to meet Ofcom news quotas and is mostly content from News at 10

Exactly - although one thing I don't get is that apart from 15 minutes extra regional news of a weekday, how do the BBC get away with not having a 5:30 bulletin - I suppose similcast from the news channel might be included.

This morning I watched the morning news for the first time ever on TV. Today it seemed very in-depth and heavy and as I hadn't seen any ITV News coverage the day before these reports were all new to me. Most of the reports I imagined were updated from the version used on NaT. There is one thing I do not like and that is replaying the top story again at the end of the programme. Today it felt very repetitive and there wasn't enough time to finish the news paper front pages either.

yeah I don't get why they do that ! Another time I caught it there've had one of the lesser known reporters, in the studio with the presenter, having a movie review. I suppose the other bulletins are all less than 30 minutes, so they have to fill it some how.

They could just start it a bit late and show a couple more minutes of nightscreen or whatever raher than repeating the top story, but then the'd have a couple of minutes less of the quote filled each day.

Its worse on a Sunday and Monday morning, because the bulletins from the night before are only 10 - 15 minutes, you get the main stories, some stories from NBC, a paper review and then the last 10 minutes of the program are more or less a repeat of the first 10 minutes, taking you up to 6am. I know itv have cut costs, by just repackaging reports from the previous day, but it is very repetative.
itv can't cut the bulletin any more due to the PSB commitments to provide a certain number of hours of news coverage a year, this is why you only see a reduction at christmas time as the quota has been filled.

Technically at 5am there is a simulcast of the News Channel simulcasting BBC World News. Likewise I'm sure if the ITV News Channel was still around the ITV morning news would be a simulcast from the channel instead.

Breakfast maybe? With BBC1 being a 24 hour service unlike the ITV regional licences?

Just saw this on Broadcast : "Crozier hints at structural change for ITV news"

Quote:
ITV chief executive Adam Crozier has said he is delighted the IFNC scheme has “come to a crashing end” and that the broadcaster will reveal its news strategy in the next three months.

Speaking at ITV’s interim results presentation, Crozier revealed he was uncomfortable with the thought of ITV giving up its airtime to others and that he was determined it should be “great at news”.

However, he hinted at a structural shake-up. ITV currently airs news from GMTV, its regional newsrooms and ITN, and Crozier said that if it was drawing up plans from scratch, it “wouldn’t start from here”. He added that the new strategy would not be about moving its bulletins or changing how they look, but finding a way of making news work commercially.

Laughing well although a few changes might come about. It seems that the look of the bulletins which is the worst thing as you say; which some of us hoped would be in the review of news output announced in the ITV results, will not be changing any time soon - which is a shame.
