Why to coincide with the new breakfast show? ITV News has nothing to do with Daybreak, except it may produce the news, but its expected to be ITN. I don't know why everyone is linking Daybreak to ITV News!
It was a mere suggestion that if any changes are needed to the national ITV News, it would make sense to do it in September, a time when there will be other significant changes to ITV programming (the introduction of Daybreak is the most notable example). It's been pretty obvious since last year that ITV have a desire to link together all news and current affairs on ITV1 (not just the programmes produced by ITN):
1) ITV rebranded the on-screen look of the national ITV News because they felt it was too 'detached' from the channel branding, hence the new black, yellow and gold colours in use;
2) The regional news and political discussion programmes incorporated yellow into the proceedings;
3) The "Tonight" programme similarly rebranded from blue to colours used by ITV1;
3) And as indicated already, GMTV has been axed and replaced by an arguably more news-driven programme, with news updates that could effectively come under an "ITV News" banner.
Don't be silly by suggesting linking things like Daybreak and ITV News - both examples of ITV current affairs programming - together is the same as Loose Women being somehow connected to Emmerdale.
