if youre gonna go on looks you should have cheryl cole and michael buble doing news at 10 why the hell judge on that lucy is a very experienced and respected broadcast famous for the conderlisa rice interview and also her warming attitude she is much better I have met her and she is a very lovley person . she is much better andrea wouldant be where she is if lucy owen hadant of moved on and was just chose as a cheap option.

No, Andrea has looks AND proffesionalism AND good speech, all better than Lucy.

Yes, I agree, Andrea wouldn't have been there if Lucy hadnt moved on, because Lucy is more of ITV's style of presenter.

It seems your judgement is clouded to the simple fact that you have met her. Just because she is "loveley" doesn't make her better than Andrea, which comes across better onscreen in every sense.

how is lucy not profesional and looks should never come in to it also I think andrea lacks in experience and isent good enough and don't try and say because I live in the northwest because there are lots of regional talent better than her border ian , pam and john bevir Granda : Tony Morris , Westcounty :Ian Axton Anglia : Becky Jago etc. all of them are better than her. and also she has fronted various news bulietens and it isent because she s a lovley person alone that comes in to it but her and any of the above is better than andrea don't get me wrong andrea is good but is used to oftern they should give other regional talent a chance.

Could you try to use some sort of punctuation?
Lucy, IMO is a very good newsreader, but maybe she decided to end her stint in London.
What I can't understand is, less than a year since the "brand realignment", and all the talk of only having the main five (as it was then) presenters on the main weekday bulletins, plus Nina and James - then having random presenters front the Lunchtime News. To add to that, Romilly co-hosted News at Ten a few Fridays back, and Steve Scott is down to present the Evening News with Julie on Thursday. I know it's the summer holidays, but surely things could have been planned a little better.

As we are on the subject of presenters here, is there a ranking on relief presenters so that they decide who will cover, e.g
Nina = 1, Romilly = 2.
James = 1, Steve = 2, Geraint = 3

I have only come up with these as number 1 are the presenters that relief the most.

When is this thread ever NOT on the subject of presenters? Rolling Eyes Honestly, it's so boring it's untrue. I used to love posting in the ITV News thread (and The Newsroom in general) but any worthwhile discussion is now completely stifled by bloody rotas.

Are you ever worried that you might have too much time on your hands? Wink

It's nota so-called "rotas" that are the problem - it's people mindlessly speculating on what might theoretically happen if presenter X presents bulletin Y.

It's one thing to discuss an appearance by an unusual presenter - or other aspects of what is actually happening - but it's the stuff that's purely speculative that does my head in.

In the same way that mock images are frowned on in the main sections of the forum, perhaps mock presenter lineups could be treated the same way.

I'd rather see a demarcation between discussion of actual events and speculation/wish-lists rather than between so-called rotas and 'presentation' discussion.

Also add the massive inquest that occurs whenever Nina Hossain presents any bulletin.

Matt Teale is presenting the lunchtime update tomorrow

According to DigiGuide (and various other TV listings), Matt Teale is presenting the main Lunchtime bulletin on Friday 23 July. Rolling Eyes

Also, Andrea Benfield is down to present at 1.30 the day before...

Well it is the start of the holiday season and Katie has also left so I guess other presenters are going to turn up especially on the Lunchtime News.

Although I disagree that rotas aren't too much of a problem ('oooh, Nick Owen is on BBC News', yawn) I do agree that the ridiculous 'why isn't Chris Martin presenting today, is he pregnant, and who will replace him?' is incredibly tiresome. It's just complete nonsense. At least in a separate thread I can ignore it, and we can discuss interesting (well, to us, perhaps not in the grand scheme of things Wink ) aspects of ITV News, the actual presentation, which is what the forum is for.

Not spreadsheet-updating with possible presenter combinations for the bulletin at 3.15am on a Sunday.
