Just to go back to who's doing which weekday bulletins - Alastair remains the lead presenter with Mary on ITV News at 6.30pm and continues to present the majority of all 6.30pm programmes, while Mark is the lead presenter with Julie for News at Ten. Alastair is also lead presenter on the 1.30pm. I'm from the ITN press office and thought it would be useful to clear this up as there was suggestion we'd put out a press release about it...

You're wrong on every count. Take notice of the VO each time a programme opens and also the order in which the presenters are credited at the end of bulletin. Mary and Alastair alternate, as do Julie and Mark.

Which is exactly what he said. Read it again before you begin attacking new members who at least claim to be representing the company we're discussing.

well one at least - and it keep him on screen for like 5 seconds, whilst he was sorting his hair! Laughing Although it was no link after the final bit from Mary.

A little sensationalist perhaps, but nice and poignant, Seemed to go on for like a minute! Alastair is very good with his laungauage and being heartfelt and his sign off's are always good too.

I like the ITV News closes when they are on location seeing who is there to produce such a good programme.

I didn't see the sign off but why was he being heartfelt?

He normally is, that's the guy's personality and how he comes across in his presentation

yeah they always do that. ITV News always have really good closing shots. For us Tv Forum-ers at least is good to see who there.

Just generally his launguage and just generally him, they way he said it - said somethink very loosely along the lines of "In the early hours of tomorrow it will be 7 days since Moat started this manhunt and the community have been living in fear , which should end soon."

I'm sure he is a lovely man to get along with, but I thought it was a bit too much like "The Sun Says...", to be honest. Still, it was less sensationalist than the closing to the 6:30 news.

For me ITV News is the broadcaster that is there to merge formality with friendliness and thus deliver the news in a clear, understandable way - not slather the facts with soppy language, which has been the latest trend for quite a while.

LOL - I doubt it, but hopefully so! The whole bulletin feels smoother with little bits like that, and less like a heavily-censored film (hence 'choppy'). There was no "back to Alastair" towards the end though.

well as I said in my 1st post - "A little sensationalist perhaps" but as you say better than the 6:30.

... due mainly to the press over hyping the situation and giving a man on the run all the exposure he wishes for.
