So why the sudden swap to Nina?
Julie is also down for NAT with Mark, I wonder if Nina will pop up on that too?
On another note I suppose that's one of the reasons why Nina got London Tonight, so that if something happens they have a national newscaster in the building to use if caught short.

well I think I read on Julie's twitter that she was shadowing Danny Alexander (Treasury person i think) and the report/interview was also plugged on the NAT promo on the EN. So mabye it's to do with that?
On London Tonight we ended up getting Charlene White as Nina's replacement which is quite unusual, so the others weren't avaliable as mabye it was last minute.

Edit: and his back now according to his blog - been in Niger for a charity appeal plus he says " I will make a short report for ITN" and his has another stint as a guest in dictionary corner on Countdown!

You honestly wouldn't believe how nice he is, he was speaking to the contestants when recording was paused (ie breaks and other bits), speaking to members of the studio audience, writing out autographs at the end, even though you could tell he was dying to get out the building for a cigarette. On Countdown he did mention he did a lot of work for a charity in Africa, but I guess you'll have to wait until September to see what I'm ranting on about.

As I said he does seem very genuine!
I can understand the cigarette bit - there's a behinds the scene photo of when he was at the Beijing Olympics and during the break his having a fag ! Plus I'm sure I've heard before that there was a live from outside Grays Inn Road for some News (mabye C4) and Alastair was in the background having a fag!

Emma Murphy seems to be one of the worst on ITV for dumbing down and making stories "emotional".
