I have a few questions:
Now that it is confirmed that Nina will take over katie, will she become a face of itv news?
Is andrea set to take over Nina's current position?
If not, who would be next in line, sally bidulph? Romilly? Alex?

It has been confirmed that Nina will take over Katie's role on London Tonight but so far nothing has been said about a replacement for Katie on the national news.
I expect that James and Nina will continue to fill-in for Mark, Julie, Alastair and Mary, (mainly for Alastair when it comes to the lunchtime news but still in the same capacity).

Given that Nina will, presumably, be working four or five days a week on London Tonight we probably will see less of her and more of Romilly et al. at the weekends.

Andrea will still remain at ITV Wales despite how lovely it would be for her to remain at Grays Inn Road Very Happy, Nina's role at weekends will probably be occasionally when she takes over Katie on London Tonight, and due to all the GMTV changes many people have suggested that Emma Crosby could come to ITV News, but no word on the GMTV presenters has come in yet so I would imagine if they are planning to sign Crosby they will need to see whats happening at GMTV. That's my view on it all.

Ignoring the Emma speculation, Nina is probbaly still going to be on the Evening News/News at 10 a fair bit, since Julie and Mary can't always cover for each other - and there is no other senior female presenter is there (which might be important as far as the News at 10 is concerned)

So basically it could be like when Alex took over Katie on LT because Katie was on the national news.

Not exactly because Katie presented the Evening News or News at Ten most nights back then and only appeared on London Tonight about once a month, (it did mean that the national news was particularly good though Very Happy). If that were to be the same with Nina then it wouldn't have made sense to announce her as taking over on London Tonight.
I'm sure Nina will cover the national bulletins but since the re-organisation Mary and Julie seem to be expected to work a little harder Wink.

the coverage on the news at 1:30 when the story broke was good and it shows how good katie derham is and how unlucky they are that shes leaving however the news at 6:30 and after that the coverage was poorer the only well crafted report came from Geraint Vincent they didant use UK editor Angus walker when this is a sort of story you think they would

I completely agree; both about the Derrick Bird coverage and about Katie. (ITV News is very much the poorer for her leaving.)

Im guessing Nina will take over Katie's presenting duties on the national news as well as London Tonight - so the lunchtime news a couple of days a week and News At Ten when either Julie or Mary cant present it. I dont expect we will see much of Nina on the weekend bulletins - I expect we will see more of Geraint and Romilly covering. Andrea too now she has made a few appearances on the weekend news.

In terms of who will be the 4th most senior female presenter im guessing Romilly - she might turn up as a relief presenter on the lunchtime and evening news again, especially if Nina is on London Tonight so cant do the Evening news.

James Mates appears to be the usual cover for the 1.30pm News when both Katie and Alastair aren't available. Nina is more likely to be used as cover for later bulletins due to the 'need' for a male/female pairing.

What's the situation with the regional news pilots now - are they all waiting for the Tories to be told by Nick Clegg what their position is on them? If they do go ahead by any chance I guess there is no guarantee the current presenters will remain.

Or not, as those are Macololo's words of wisdom wrongly being attributed to me Very Happy.

As for your point about the regional news pilots; personally I don't think they will go ahead, but if they do there's every chance that the presentation teams for those regions would change.

All this talk of such a person could present this bulletin on that day, and this other person can cover for somebody else on other days, and what commitments they possibly have that would stop them from working every second Tuesday of the month...

It's not half boring you know. Give it a rest.

Take this with a pinch of salt, but on Friday 18 June, News at Ten (10.15) will be hosted by James and Romilly, although Alastair is down for doing the 1.30, and both James and Romilly are on the 6.15 bulletin (only 15 minutes long because of the England game.)
Like I said...take with a pinch of salt. Cool
