A shame that Robinson's trial on Newsnight didn't lead to him getting a more permanent role on that programme as I thought he was pretty good and would be a good choice to replace Paxman if and when he leaves.

The BBC would be making a grave mistake if they employed Tom Bradby, the amount of pro-Tory bias (and anti-Labour/anti-Lib Dem) in some of his reports is pretty shocking. He'd be better off getting a job at the Telegraph. The BBC have plenty of choice already in their employ, Jon Sopel would be an ideal choice, he knows his stuff and he has charisma. Let's just hope we don't get another Robert Peston.

Doesn't say much for tbe BBC's strength in depth if they feel like they need to keep poaching political editors.

Chris Ship would be a contender to take over I'd imagine - he took on the Tom Brady role in the daytime election coverage and was much better at it.

In fact I was thinking that James Mates would make a fantastic political editor. He has a hell of a lot more authority than Tom Bradby and really shone throughout ITV's election coverage.

I completely agree. I never understood why James wasn't made political editor when Nick Robinson moved from ITV to the BBC. He seemed the obvious choice then, and he still is now.

Isn't James Mates though kind of more senior than Political Editor as the senior correspondent. It's probably not the right comparison, but if you get what I mean it would kind of be like making John Simpson political editor of BBC News.

I see your point, but it doesn't seem that ITV are anywhere close to getting rid of Tom Blatherby anyway. Only the BBC can save them now!

Obvious issues on the national and local news websites, they have not been updated and when you visit the homepage of them there is no video bar displayed.

Last night I think around 10pm, the website said national and local websites are closed to fix some glitches, or something similar. Maybe they did something wrong?

I've not seen her presenting or reporting for them before is she freelance or from one of the regions?

She is from Wales, I assume she is just covering for this weekend only as a one off... the usual Sunday presenters, Charlene White, James Mates and Alex Hyndman (But shes getting maried).
And Andrea is back at 6.45... I wonder if they have got a voiceover for her??
