I - though it could be an opportunity to get rid of Donal McIntyre and perhaps relaunch it as a single headed programme with a bigger name - though apart from Alastair Stewart who obviously isn't available I'm not sure they've got a name big enough.

+1 Laughing

Although i don't think there'd go for a single headed programme!

I can see Nina getting Katie's national bulletins role ( not all because of kids/traveling etc) and some London Tonight and mabye Lucy Cotter getting the remainder of Katie's role.

Also OT there seem to be new reporters being intoduced this week - Rags ( can't remember their last name) on London Tonight and on the Lunchtime News today there was a new male "Political Reporter" who's name escapes me.

Rags Martell- I believe taking over from Lewis Vaughaun-Jones as he has become a national reporter and the new political reporter (not correspondent) Dan Hewitt.

Re: Nina. She isn't the first newsreader to have kids you know, and she isn't the only one who has to travel to work. I'm sure like everyone if a promotion was offered she would at least consider it - I doubt Nina got into newsreading to be stuck on the weekend bulletins forever.

And she has appeared on GMTV for a week, based in London, which you'd think would be the most difficult given its early hours. I also can't imagine whoever takes over will do both the 1:30 and LT, given the male role on LN is no longer linked to national bulletins since Al left.

My guess is James Mates will replace Katie on the 1:30 or Mary will present the 1:30 two or three times a week (bringing her on par with Alistair), either one with Nina occasionally appearing in place of Mary and Julie. I'd also guess a presenter like Lucy Cotter or Alex Hyndman would take over on LT. Then again, how many expected Donal Macintyre or Matt Teale to take over?

I think a few of us are saying that because I'm sure something happened before that she didn't take or get the job? ( I can't remember what thought!)

Although i think she lives further than others, I suppose your right really it doesn't take long on a train! Smile

There's a big assumption she lives far away because her husband got a job working well outside of London..

Yes, bit unprofessional, wasn't it? Laughing

I'd wondered where Lewis Vaughn-Jones had come from - I don't really like reporting style. I place him among a sizable list of newer and more "weak" reporters. Stephen Douglas is particularly irritating with his facial expressions and "...it's storytime, children" voice. That said, there are some great reporters that have joined in the last five or so years - Damon Green is a prime example. He doesn't let lexical fluff cloud the facts/details of a news story. His deadpan delivery of weird "And Finally" reports is also well worth watching. Smile

what happened? Something like the video cutting of I expect!

Also on the Lunchtime News a live video feed cut out early and it wen't back to the studio but the camera's were being moved for the next shots i expect, and one camera was behind the other so we got a view of it whilst Katie was apolgising! Laughing

well Samal Siraj wasn't only had the occasional report on ITV news ( didn't know she was pregnant - but haven't seen her on London Tonight for ages, so that explains it! ) - when she comes off maternity leave - new permant presenter for Lunchtime/London Tonight perhaps? (just to add another name to the pot!) Laughing

Lewis Vaughan Jones was a reporter on ITV Wales News - he also occasionally used to present some of the GMTV and weekend bulletins.
