I hope Steve is more successful as Sports Editor than his BBC equivilent was. He needs to start doing reports about Setanta and Cricket going to pay TV!

Totally agree. I think there is great potential for a Sports Editor to cover all aspects of sport, not just fixtures and results, but the business and media aspects as well. Just hope he's allowed.

@ Sky Networks / bbcsport: I do believe Graham Miller was the named Sports Editor during the 1990s and into the 2000s, but I'm not sure. He used to be the second newscaster on the Saturday bulletins reading all the classified sports results. I think he may have presented on the ITN News Channel while still in his sports role at ITV News. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

And going back to the discussion about the current news look - I paid a rare visit to the ITV News Facebook page. The profile logo has the newer gradient and the rounded-off edges of the ITV1 logo. They could implement the revised logo on screen and use that as an opportunity to maybe tweak some of the bad aspects of the look.

Veering in another direction now: Penny Marshall's opening report tonight included something along the lines of "...tonight, he told News at Ten how..." while in the World Cup special report, Martin Geissler said "...and ITV News has learnt...". How difficult is it to blend both and say "the ITV News at Ten"?

re Graham Miller, I'm sure you're probably right. But it's certainly been a while since ITV News has appointed a Sports Editor as such (going back to the 1990s if you're correct about Graham). I'm not saying Steve won't be presenting any more, just that there is a chance we'll see him less in this role than in previous years, given the amount of sport that is on its way, and given that the other Editors don't present, and seem mainly to work Mon-Fri (unless something really major breaks). Appreciate the info though. Your recollection is obviously better than mine!

Tim Ewart was Sports Editor between 2003 and 2006 - as has already been mentioned several times!

I think someone ( maybe yourself) said about it being on their facebook page now - I wonder if there'll launch it anytime soon or at all?

you'd think they would have done it alongside the ITV1 ident/logo revamp! It isn't as though they havent made one - it's on their FB page!

Really what have they got to change? - the tiltes/stings, namestrap and the website.

Along with that they could change a couple of things that need to be tweaked, most mentioned in this thread!

No it never, did it Very Happy
Probably too much work, I still cannot get my head around what took so long to build. The websites is the same as ITV Locals designs so why was it that it took 5 months longer to launch. I have a feeling that the original site design may have backfired and the had to settle for the ITV Local design.

exactly!

I'm not being funny but how hard is it to make a youtube page ! You've only got to put a logo on !! I'm sure they could even knick the background of the normal site!! Laughing
