Wow - a very short flash from ITV there, with Mark informing us that the next you'll hear from them is in News at Ten. Maybe just me, but he didn't look too impressed with that...
Not since Thatcher left has this happened. ITV should have cut straight to the statement. It's shambolic for them to have run a 2 hour special from 5-7 and then stuck with a soap opera for the most important statement in decades.
Unless a senior person has died or a major event (9/11, 7/7 bombings etc) is happening, do they ever break away from a recorded programme mid flow on any channel?

I agree. How utterly ridiculous.
It's terrible. The BBC have been getting this across well, and I've only turned over to the BBC as a strap came up saying a Live Report was on BBC One. Emmerdale isn't that popular at the moment anyway, is it?
Unforgivable of ITV to have given Emmerdale priority over news.
Mark did mention that News at Ten was the next "scheduled" bulletin, so I still hope they'll see sense and break into coverage with a special programme at some point before 10pm.

Well it's by far the most popular programme scheduled for tonight on ITV.
