Right decision IMO. It can wait till 7.30pm

With that logic, it can wait until 10pm. Stupid decision from ITV.

ITV1 are showing recorded footage now. Did they make it clear it is recorded or did they imply it was live?

Wow - a very short flash from ITV there, with Mark informing us that the next you'll hear from them is in News at Ten. Maybe just me, but he didn't look too impressed with that...

Well the phrase "10 minutes ago" kind of made it obvious.

Aston read: A short while ago....

Note Mark said "Next scheduled bulletin at 10pm, means they'll be back at this rate.

Primetime tv taking precedent over news coverage. They are a commercial station after all. Channel 4 were lucky to get the speech live.

Not since Thatcher left has this happened. ITV should have cut straight to the statement. It's shambolic for them to have run a 2 hour special from 5-7 and then stuck with a soap opera for the most important statement in decades.

Unless a senior person has died or a major event (9/11, 7/7 bombings etc) is happening, do they ever break away from a recorded programme mid flow on any channel?

I agree. How utterly ridiculous.

It's terrible. The BBC have been getting this across well, and I've only turned over to the BBC as a strap came up saying a Live Report was on BBC One. Emmerdale isn't that popular at the moment anyway, is it?

Unforgivable of ITV to have given Emmerdale priority over news.

Mark did mention that News at Ten was the next "scheduled" bulletin, so I still hope they'll see sense and break into coverage with a special programme at some point before 10pm.

Well it's by far the most popular programme scheduled for tonight on ITV.

Children's Hospital was surely an easy candidate to drop?!
