Just seen a promo for the election night live - set looks nice - new desk it seems to, studio looks quite different!

Do you have any shots?

--- any one watching the 1:30 news today, will have heard james mates refer to it as being the weekend team rather than the lunchtime team. rather strange...

If you want to see it, perhaps sticking with ITV1 this evening would be best? They played it again in the junction after Emmerdale.

Yes, interesting desk - though I did believe they were going to use the usual one.

I'm sure someone will stick it up or I'll find a youtube clip of it.

Yeah you'd tink they'd keep the same desk and just use the CGI to change it.

Well they did replace the desk back in 2005 too for the election campaign with a rather hideous (though nice!) large thing which didn't fit in the studio.

Yes, it was an acceptable desk but didn't look good in its surroundings: the desk and the atrium backdrop looked very nice and there was a busy, exciting feel to the election night coverage, but the circular wall made everything look all out of the place. It was a nice touch though with the camera being able to look through the "window" and down into the lobby of the ITN building.

Have seen the Election Night Live 2010 promo for the umpteenth time a short while ago, and I must say from what we can see of the set itself, it looks very nice. Quite a bit of depth and the colours aren't too garish. It certainly is a great change from all that yellow flatness...! Looking forward to Thursday evening.

On another note: rehearsals going on this weekend, I presume, as the jib camera was in use for the 5:45pm bulletin.

mabye there have one desk there just for show! Laughing
although the other desk is very small - only for one person!
I suspect one's for Julie? As for the first time, the VR and actual studio will be together in one studio, rather than the VR coing from somewhere else.

Well, we haven't seen the full set itself yet. That desk might be larger than you think. Although, some listings have the line at the end "includes ITV News bulletins". Perhaps regular updates will come from that desk? We shall see on the night!

yeah but except for NAT, which it it was airing seperately would be near enough all election, they haven't reall got other bulletins - I don't think there'd be that bothered about the morning news either.

I know what you mean about things looking bigger, but I do think it's pretty small! We shall see come Thursday!

Does anyone know if ITN has the capability to broadcast native HD? The Election promo is saying "on ITV1 and HD".
