HO
I suspect we might see her crop up on different things over time - but it's quite possible she'd rather be doing this type of work than newsreading (It's quite possibly not challenging for some people after so long).
I can imagine Katie Derham-fronted documentaries appearing on BBC Two and Four, maybe even work on a The Review Show (formerly Newsnight Review)-type programme.
Good for Katie if this is what she wants to do. But I do think she is one of the very few newsreaders who seems to please everyone - calm, smooth presentation, including when interviewing, a bubbly personality that doesn't conflict with the news, great looks, none of the celebrity-oriented ways of Kaplinsky or Silverton and none of the negative on-screen temprements of some others (a la Huw Edwards and the way he sometimes seems to lean over the desk rather than sit up, or Andrew Marr who likes to wave his arms around).
I just hope the BBC use her to the fullest potential she wants - I'd personally love Derham on a programme like Newsnight (should any of the current ones leave) or a Sunday-morning show.
