The obvious choice is Nina but I'm not convinced she'll want to do it full time. I imagine she'll accept either ITV News or London Tonight rather than both- lets remember she lives in Nottingham and has a young child. She only seems to work on a part time basis at the minute when she could probably have more work.

Katie would be wasted on the news channel but there isn't really anywhere else she can fit in at the minute. BBC News is overstaffed as it is.

Couldn't they recomition double presenting on the BBC News at 6??

I too can't believe they have let Katie get away .

Unless they did everything within their power to hang on to her that represents an unbelievably poor bit of management .

According to the Daily Mail she won't have a news role. Shes becoming an arts presenter by the sounds of it.

It would be an interesting turn of events if Alex Hyndman ends up getting her old London Tonight job back after already leaving. I have a feeling they might give Emma the job though after their GMTV clearout- Ben & Andrew have ITV shows and its likely Kate will get more too. They poached Emma on good terms so I doubt they'll want to waste a good opportunity not just for ITV News but for GMTV as well.

Although people have said she's been overlooked ( I sort of agree on that). But surely as IIRC she already partly did the proms ,surely this would be a demotion for her. Going from Head Anchor of London Tonight, Joint Lunchtime News anchor & being quite prominent on the other bulletins fairly regularly to go to a few BBC shows that aren't on all the time. I suppose mabye, for all we know it could be family reasons etc. - she does have young children and just doesn't want a full time job.

Katie is getting a pay rise for doing something new and presenting something where her passions lie. I doubt she sees it as a demotion to be honest.

True, but she has always seemed much more 'BBC' anyway so I guess she'll fit right in. Best of luck to her, I hope it works out and she should be proud of what shes achieved at ITV. I wonder if they'll reference it on tonights News at Ten, or if they save it for Katie to announce on tomorrows 1.30pm news, if of course they do mention it on screen?

I mean how soon is she leaving, imminently or what?? :S

It's a shame Katie is leaving, it's also a shame that she is moving to a niche role meaning she is practically leaving the screens entirely. I'm surprised she wouldn't want to keep some sort of news role at ITV even if reduced.
