The music reminds me of Ten News in Australia, especially the bed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hB6CIidVYmM

Thank goodness the set looks better than Ten Sydney's!

You know, I was all prepared to come on here, and write some positive stuff. Then I saw this......

Now, I really don't know......

I await to see how they deal with News at Ten before I reply.

Just a thought about the opening to the Evening News. As the camera dollies across the Studio after transition from the Opening Titles I think we should see Mary, or whoever has done the opening bit with Alistair in the background, walk across the studio and sit down , then the first story would be read by the co-presenter allowing them time to sit down and get ready. I presume the very first opening from Mary is currently being pre-recorded?

Just a thought

Madness to ditch that opening sequence. These 'hero' panels are a joke in comparison.

The single presenter shots are very tight - these close-ups seem to be in fashion at the moment (cf Sky News)

I think that the single presenter shot has no depth to it. It all seems very two dimensional. I think the astons are too big. The desk looks very fake in parts. The set does look very sterile, and very fake. Although it is good to have the voiceover back it seems very awkward. The music stops and the voice over says the itv news at 6.30 with mary nightingale and alistair stewart, followed by the bong of the next headline. I have a feeling that this look may be tweaked over the coming weeks.

does anyone else think the voiceover is in the wrong place??
I think it should go right at the end, just before the first story.
Currently it's voiceover, bong, headlines, then sting. - surely it should go just before/after the sting??

Oh - not a fan of the 'Coming up' music (the drum bit at the start). I do think the studio is looking impressive though!

It did sound a bit like the end of a joke "bu bum tish!" which was unfortunate given the previous story. Really don't like the OTT human interest slant in tonight's bulletin, hope that gets toned down.

As to the graphics, I'd agree with various comments already made - the captions are far too big, the voiceover (although very welcome) is quite quiet and subdued. Nice to see the "newscaster" reference, especially given ITV1 continuity's slap dash approach to introducing the person.

The titles look nice but C4 achieves the effect better, and without the feeling you're being slung from side to side. They are at least less busy, use video and hold on the clips for longer. Why can't the Big Ben image show the proper time?! And it does make you wonder how long they'll keep it before just using a short version of the generic ones ("we'll leave you with some of the images making the news" gimmick anyone?)

The set isn't bad but quite dark. I'm not a big fan of VR which is why I liked it so much when they swapped it for the atrium and skyline. A bit of reality and a bit of depth. Don't mind the music though, nice it retains elements of the original.

Definitely better than the previous look but a shame it had to be at the sacrifice of News at Ten's superb set/graphics/titles.

Or the ITV1 idents circa 2004 that featured clips of programmes, which only seemed to be used in the first few months

I have to say I love this, I can't really understand why so many people have an issue. It is so slick!

It does seem very oddly placed and the whole sequence is disjointed because of it. I personally believe it should go at the end just before the sting.

Yeah, but then again, some people probably will have an issue if they tamper with News at Ten...

And I have a bad feeling they will!

"Coming up at Ten" during Emmerdale just a second ago - there be every break at this rate!!

Also am I being thick - but what is the talk of newscasters - except for the voiceover I've not seen anything to do with them!
