Yes, I'm a bit disappointed too. I really liked the 2001/2005 theme. I believe the production team are still working on the theme music so nothing's definite yet but as Michael W says, the new version is supposed to have hints of the ITV News 2009 theme. I guess given the "brand realignment" they want to align the election programme more to ITV News bulletins than anything else.

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with, then. While I miss the old News at Ten music which was easily one of the best news themes on television at the time, I do like the current music. It is a nice mix between orchestral and modern and a damn sight better on the ears than the tired and dated 2006 theme.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but being on night this week I've taken my break to coincide with the morning news and this morning Jackie Kabler presented! Not seen her presenting for a while, didn't realise she was still working for ITN
This morning I must say Sally Biddulph when precording her "live" got muddled up saying tomorrows papers before correcting herself by restarting the entire sentence after fiddling with her hair, thought someone would have cut the error out so I didn't appear too obvious that she fluffed her lines.
On the whole though the programme did have a few mistakes including bring the current policitcal opinion polls accidently up when showing a report about the laying in state of the Polish president.

Jackie does present quite often now, I only know that because of the paper review online. She did last bank holiday weekend. Because I'm in London a lot, my concern is - where as faye gone? Haven't seen her for about 6 weeks on gmtv London today, it usually presented by alex hyndman or charlene White because they have presented the morning news

I wouldn't read too much into Jackie presenting, shes just obviously still favoured by ITN since Setanta News folded. Same with Matt who presented the other day. Interesting to see about Alex though, considering she officially 'left' ITN having worked her way up to regular relief presenter and now shes back right at the bottom.

The new music is a Hewson comp and was finished on Tuesday (apparently, not too sure of the validity of that information).

they obviously played the wrong video there - showed marks pre titles video rather than the coming up video, complete with bongs! Laughing

"News at Ten: The Verdict". Interesting choice of title for Thursday's programme... Laughing In any case it's nice to see ITV put so much emphasis on the election campaign this year. As I think I said before, it's rather surprising - but pleasantly so - to have so much news and current affairs dominating the ITV schedules until May 6. Thursday should be pretty exciting then, from both the political and presentation points of view.

Noticed that the Tonight programme with Mark Austin was an ITV Studios production; there have been editions since the "realignment" of the programme that have been produced by ITN, I wonder why this wasn't. Pres-wise - the titles have been amended. There were no words stuck to the houses that appear in the titles - presumably they have been removed to accommodate the election specials, but I hope it's a permanent change - and the "sky" was no longer pitch black but much lighter.

Politics bore me to tears and I really don't care about the general election so I'm a bit put off by how much its shown atm. But its something ITV are clearly focusing on and they are doing it very well from what I've seen and are pulling out all the stops.

If ITV kept up this standard all year round and not just saved it for big events then they might not have the stigma attached to them that they currently do. However I do think they have managed to shake it off somewhat in the past year or so.

Different studio in use again I believe this lunchtime as people have said before this is likely due to the fact of election testing. And it seems something went wrong with the closing pan because a bit of the green screen background was missing showing a curtain.
