True. And whilst we're on the subject, the national and regional weather graphics need something of an overhaul as well!

Dave Hewson is providing the music for ITV's election night programme.

Thank you. Could I tempt you to answer another query: is it the music used for 2001 and 2005 or a new composition?

I believe it's going to be a new composition.

The weather graphics need a complete overhaul. When they relaunched it seemed a wise move to do something simple in comparison to the BBC's controversial new system, but now it just seems very dated.

And the gradient on the ITV News logo doesn't bother me at all - I think it's better left yellow myself. The association is still there, and frankly the tweaked ITV1 logo isn't looking that great anyway.

But if they "aligned" the ITV News brand to fit the ITV1 brand, then its a bit pointless when ITV1 changes but ITV News doesn't.

There no point updating the graphics just for aroun 200 seconds a day in national forecasts. I do think they are dated, however weather is probably itv's least priority.

Because c4 weather comes from ITN, I wonder if the "itv weather centre" could move to Itn so that they could use the same system. Anyone know where the itv weather centre is, I presume only becky and sian are based there.

Thank you for the information. I'm surprised they are not using the usual music. I thought they were trying to make it the recognised ITV election theme, much in the same way that the "Arthur" music by Rick Wakeman is instantly recognised as the BBC's election night theme. Oh well, if the BBC feels like a change I suppose ITN can follow suit!

Indeed - in fact, let's just have a blank screen with nothing but text and a voiceover. Rolling Eyes

Yes, I'm a bit disappointed too. I really liked the 2001/2005 theme. I believe the production team are still working on the theme music so nothing's definite yet but as Michael W says, the new version is supposed to have hints of the ITV News 2009 theme. I guess given the "brand realignment" they want to align the election programme more to ITV News bulletins than anything else.

ITV need to do something about the weather very quickly. Ironically its one thing GMTV excels in out of the main few providers- ITV ought to look in that direction to see how it should be done.

Katie's "Who's Sandy?" line was genius Very Happy.
(Their little comedy sketch starts at 4:20.)

I particularly liked the brief glimpse of a silhouetted Katie dancing. ( Embarassed )
