Interesting to see Alistair and Mary stood not that far away from George there after the titles to the Six, presumably rehearsing? Given regional news had already started.

They were recording their openers.. You can hear George's opening line on the six at the beginning of ITV News and vice-versa

You would have thought they could time it a bit better? If they'd waited only a minute or so the Six would have been playing a VT or switched to another location and they could get a cleaner record!

I really don't think the ITV Director could give two hoots about what the BBC are doing. Alastair and Mary will have been listening to the control room and following orders from the Director. I hardly think they'd be paying attention to whether the BBC are live or running a VT.

I was more meaning so George didn't talk over their intro, rather than them affecting the BBC. Alistair sounded pretty loud at the start of the Six, so I can't imagine George was quiet during the ITV News at 6:30?!

Does anyone have any video?

I don't, sorry. I wasn't recording A Touch of Frost and just grabbed the caps from a live buffer.

Were there any special titles (e.g itv news report)

From memory there wasn't really a title sequence:
It started with a brief wide shot of the studio then a close up of Katie, who introduced the newsflash. Then the 'Breaking News' strap appeared, which after a few seconds was removed to be replaced with the "Downing Street: Gordon Brown to call general election tomorrow" graphic, with the small 'Breaking News' tag appearing a few seconds after that.

Just found BBC News on iPlayer and he was fairly loud at the start Laughing I also wasn't expecting them to actually be as close as they were!

1.30 news was opened in a different way, it was a split screen of Katie & Alastair and were presenting as though they were in the same place. It actually worked quite well.

I generally defend presenting on location as for the big stories IMO it does make a difference - but I think much of today's coverage on all channels would have been served better coming from the studio - especially when you have other channels doing the same thing next door to you.

Downing Street especially has been rather pointless other than for the focus on the prize - but we all know what number 10 looks like anyway. A bit more point at Westminster as there have been politicians floating about throughout the day, but I think for the Evening bulletins they could have returned to the studio - or at least done as they did at Lunchtime and had one host at Westminster and one at Downing Street.

Did they say who is presenting News at Ten - Katie and Mark are listed, but Nina was down on the EPG to do the Evening News. I'm surprised really any news organisation would have given time off to their most senior employees over this six week period or so.

Mark and Mary presenting News at Ten tonight - I would have thought they'd draft in Julie seeing as she's going to have something of a key role in the election night programming on ITV.

First use of the election graphics and I must say it's better than I expected. Why is it they seem to create brilliant graphics to be used only for a short while (UK '10 and US '08 election coverage) but don't put half as much effort in for the on-screen furniture we see for most of the year! Anyway, very impressed with the "Campaign 2010" and "Election 2010" branded graphics.

Is she in Paris for the election campaign, or have ITV let her go on holiday during a major campaign that ITV will be hoping to pull in more viewers than ever?
