I noticed the same problems too. In addition, the desk was tinted green, the yellow 'squares' on the front were orange rather than yellow, and the glass of the desk reflected only Katie Derham and her papers - it looked as if the glass had been cut out of the desk as we could see the bottom parts of the 'walls' and the floor.
This entire same thing happened a few weeks ago when James Mates was presenting the lunchtime news (ironically also a Wednesday) and it was put down to power problems or another fire alarm or something like that.
EDIT - re: backdrop. Perhaps they were using the much darker News at Ten one by mistake?
Random bit of nonsense - one of my family members glanced at the TV during the close of the programme and remarked, "it looks like walls with damp patches on them" and said they preferred how it "used to look". Can't say I disagree..
Are they using the wrong backdrop on the news now? It looks much darker than usual and the look 'outside' (past the panels) is black in some shots when its usually greyish.
