Im I right the ITV News at 6:30pm and the ITV News at 10 will differ from the News at 1:30pm with the jib camera in use?

The jib was in use on the ITV News at 1.30 and the Mid Morning summary.

OMG that music is absolutely stunning!!! That is the nicest TV music I have heard in a long time and it stil retains more of the traditional ITV news theme! My only hope is that ITV revert to this music.

Different music? It sounds the same to me.

It's normally only the EN & NaT - I wonder if this is perminant or not?

I don't know, but they only really made any use of it during the interviews.

Also the titles virtual space in the titles looks a lot better than the actual set.

Here's my considered opinion :

The titles are vomit inducing, they make you dizzy, the movement is too swift and jerky. It's a nice idea in that it makes each set of titles unique, but C4 News has been doing this for an age, and they show actual footage, not stills.

The 'voice of god' sounds depressed and lacking in any kind of authority at all.

The studio would benefit from not having yellow lines on the floor or desk, that is not necessary, serves to look like a car park.

Yellow, white, grey and black do not make a good look. All those random columns have only served to make it look more virtual than ever before.

The primary school style / partially sighted name straps / astons are a total turn off.

Apart from that, fine.

I don't think a NEWS program's titles are meant to turn you on?!

The ONLY thing that is not real about the desk and platform is the yellow squares on the front of the desk.

The Desk and Platform are real.

Seems rather strange to go to the effort of adding the yellow rectangles on the desk virtually. Certainly on one clip I saw on the 1.30 news the CSO seemed to be having trouble with the right hand one on one of the camera angles, which made me think the whole desk was fake. I reckon it would probably look better without the squares, anyway.

I agree with Square Eyes above. I just watched the open and the room looks like they borrowed a set from The Fifth Element . Less traffic lines on the set and fewer, moving images on the opening animation would make it much improved.

Music is okay. I kind of miss the dramatic horns at the end, though. They were sort of the musical equivalent of a voice of god.

I disagree about the 'traffic lines'. How boring would the floor look if it was just a grey space? I think the car park look really adds something to the set and breaks up the vast distance from the opening shot to the desk very well and provides a great base for the titles to theme around.

From what I’ve seen so far, the new look seems perfectly acceptable. I wasn’t a fan of the Feb09 refresh with the lack of any opening titles and the News at Ten elements. I can’t comment on the name straps though as they’ve been changing everything so often and so gradual recently, I’ve completely forgotten what they used to look like anyway

I disagree entirely regarding dropping the old News at Ten look though, they made such a fuss of it all when it was introduced, it’s a shame to see it go so soon. They should definally have kept News at Ten unchanged

The ‘newscaster’ credit is good, previously if an unknown newsreader presented, you would never know who it was, now you get two credits per bulletin!
