Website launches on Monday

Chris Howse is the new web producer for ITV News. With a website going live this coming Monday Chris has been a very busy man but has taken a few minutes to be our profile of the week.
.... WHAT DOES YOUR JOB ENTAIL?
Have spent the past three weeks training up 50 producers, programme editors, assistant news editors and presenters so they can look after things when I'm not here. For the next 3 months I'll run the main site along with our Twitter account.

Yeah, thank god for that!!

I heard from a friend who works within ITN that the build has been completely outsourced and that this is the reason for the catastrophic delay. Apparently everyone with an opinion is embarrassed at the length it's taken to complete.

Let's all hope for their sake it works and is impressive.

Have you not learnt by now that saying for certain when the website will launch without any proper knowledge is both dangerous and embarrassing? I've lost count of the times you've said it is definitely launching on a certain date and nothing has happened. It will launch when it launches.

so a pretty good guess itsrobert Wink I am so glad its launching, everything is now falling into place, the design looks fab and i strongly hope it turns out to be a massive success Very Happy

On a side note, good to see that the website will be launching shortly (and about time too) and even better that the news bulletins will appear on the ITV Player at long last.

No but it's nothing radical. Just think the current local websites but with the national news background image.

Maybe they've realised that James, Nina or Steve can handle the bulletins well on Sundays.
Keeping the main five to weekdays makes sense.


Its been a while since ive seen Mary, Mark, Katie and Julie on the weekend bulletins - have any of them presented this year so far?

It does make sense keeping them to weekdays tho - they have more than enough work on weekdays. Steve, Nina, Romilly and James do an excellent job at weekends. Not seen Chris Ship or Geraint Vincent present for a while either although cant claim to have watched every bulletin!


Geraint is scheduled to present next Saturday. Don't think we will ever see Lucy meacock again. Also don't think we will ever see bill neely or sally bidulph present again.

Was looking through the tv newsroom site and noticed daisy mcandrew use to present, was that a one off?


I wouldn't rule anyone out, to be honest. Voiceovers have been made for all of those presenters you mentioned, including Daisy McAndrew, so never say never!


The SKY EPG has changed the information for all itv news bulletins today; Chris Ship is now scheduled to present.

There's a request's forum for this, but cap requests never get much attention.
