This is a much nicer background than the lunchtime news, more effective camera angles used.

I generally agree with you there - was indeed a big improvement. My only gripe is the rather luminous orange on the skyline itself. It needs to be toned down ever so slightly.
Where does everyone stand with those glass sheets? I think they look a tiny bit too oversized. I hope NaT will still use the original ones.
Nice to hear that NaT has been nominated for this award. For me it's been all in all a very watchable bulletin - I've enjoyed both the way they've reported stories and the cameraderie between the presenters (not just Mark with Julie - Trevor included). I just hope it's recognised - it is as worthy for the award as the Ten O'Clock News.

Loved the new look Evening News. Far better than the Lunchtime News. It was helped by more swooping camera shots and the EN skyline was lovely. I think it's my favourite so far.
Wasn't that so much better with the presenters being seated for the entire bulletin? That, and the new skyline background, made the EN feel much more important and authoritative. A definite improvement.

Slightly OT but Itv news has been nominated for these RTS awards.
News Programme of the Year News at Ten (rather than Itv evening news who have currently got this award, i believe)

I caught the evening news and thought it looked very classy
The trees on the lunchtime backdrop are too brown though, they need to be slightly greener. I know it's winter and everything, but they're far too dull.
And I don't think the change dilutes the News at Ten at all - they still have their fancy journey down the Thames thing at the start.
Overall the ITV News presentation is now better than the BBC nationals, in my opinion.
