I seem to recall that the current straps were introduced when ITV News went widescreen in December 2007.

How long has the current name straps etc been in use, it hasn't been that long has it? They were introduced a while after the studio went blue were they not?

Don't be so matter-of-fact about things. It's possible (hard to believe, I know
) but maybe they didn't want to change them, because they like them?

Hopefully over the next few weeks they'll realise that the graphics package should be updated too - but why can't they realise these things before they "relaunch", rather than afterwards.

I seen it too, its the nicest one of the three so far imo.
They were introduced as "Mark and Nina" here in Granada, followed by a sly dig at the presenter afterwards on how shes changed

Just seen the Evening News trailor, the background is similar to News at Ten's but a bluer colour with orange on the buildings. The camera zooms in on Mark & Katie similar to the NaT intro.

Would this be the first time in several months that the Claire in question has linked to the Evening News trail (or was she just fed duff information by someone who hasn't been paying attention)?
Are your Evening News trails personalised for the Granada region?
The London one usually is but wasn't today.

She is only a relief presenter, she doesn't appear much so I imagine its her first time, but it probably was dodgy information.
We get the generic trailer along with the rest of the UK (barring London) although we don't get it every day, just on some occasions.

Nice background. There was also a nice swoop to the desk, with an opening similar to News at Ten. Different from the previous look - Mark opened with the "Good Evening" and the first details, followed by Katie and the rest of the story, with an image to go with it.
lets see if they will have a temptation to stand up.

Yeah the background looks great! Very refreshing. Loving the beacon on top of Canary Wharf flashing!

Just out of interest, why on earth did ITV News not go widescreen until as recently as 14 months ago? Sorry to go slightly off the topic here, but it's bugging me, don't ask why.
