Is Katie actually the longest serving presenter at ITV News now (if we only count Alistair Stewart since he returned from the wilderness around 2003/04)? I know Mark did a few minor bulletins in the late 90's, but by that time Katie was already a regular on the Weekend News, and IIRC this time ten years ago she was the regular stand in on the Nightly News.

I think Mark and Mary have been with ITN longer but Katie may have started presenting the ITV News before either of them, with Mark originally a correspondent and Mary presenting other things. Either way I think the longest serving presenter title has to go to Alastair.

I think as a presenter Katie's been there the longest (in one go), but Mark has been there alot longer as a reporter, I think he may have been with ITN since the late 1980's, although feel free to correct me.

The longest serving ITN presenter I think is Jon Snow.

Mary didn't join ITN until 2001, as maternity cover for Kirsty Young - initially on the Lunchtime News, moving to the Evening News when Trevor returned to News at Ten.

That'll teach me to use Wikipedia as a reference, a schoolboy error compounded by only glancing at her page. (It lists her as presenting weekend editions of ITN's World News service in '95 but, to be fair, makes no other mention of ITN or ITV News until 2001).

Actually that might just be true: http://www.londonspeakerbureau.co.uk/mary_nightingale.aspx

And a rather interesting interview with a puppet: http://www.the13thfloor.tv/Clip.aspx?key=54B1B2CAB3BCEE0F (and a few more clips there too if you do a search for Mary Nightingale)

Wow, Mary Nightingale actually comes across as very down to earth and quite witty in that interview, Brekkie. Thanks for posting that. I have never really been all that keen on Mary as a newsreader, but that clip shows another side.

Are we taking bets on who she is referring to as the "older male presenter who is a bit up his own arse and has a bit of an ego"? Mysoginistic is the word she uses, IIRC.

Yes, an interesting interview. When Mary spoke of the Queen Mother's passing and 9/11 I didn't know whether to be impressed by her honesty or just a little scared by her ruthlessness Shocked Wink .

It seems that the only thing less reliable than Wikipedia is the Freeview EPG - Mary and Geraint presenting the Lunchtime News today.

Yes id say Katie is the longest serving - she has been there since about 1998.

I noticed Katie did all 3 bulletins yesterday - however on weekend that happens all the time with 1 presenter doing all 3 and working a 12+ hour shift.
