I think it's a case of ITV calculating what will keep hold of viewers. If the news was on first before a film, the likelihood is that many viewers would switch off. Having the film on first probably keeps hold of more viewers and interrupting it for the news keeps them glued to find out what happens next and probably boosts the viewing figures for the news in the process. Either that, or they all go and make a cup of tea!
You mean you've actually
watched
an ITV News bulletin all by yourself? Very pleased to hear that. So you won't be needing video clip confirmation that what you saw was actually true?

No, but I suspect he'll be back shortly full of requests of that kind.
Was nice to hear Alastair welcome her back at the end of the programme. She's presenting tomorrow but according to the " EPG Guide", Lucy Meacock's presenting with Alastair for the rest of the week.
Strange how Romily has came back so soon after giving birth, yet Nina went on maternity leave in what, November? and she looked like she was about to give birth any second.

My Virgin TV guide says Lucy is co-presenting the Lunchtime News and Evening News on Friday, something she hasn't done in a while, plus presenting the Weekend News.

I wonder when shes going to be back.
I think Nina left in September with Romilly leaving in October? For some reason I was expecting Nina to come back first, though it's up to them how long they take off I suppose.
I could see Nina and Romilly having the following roles; One covering on weekdays, with the second presenting just on weekends and occasionally during the week at holiday periods. Otherwise I'm suprised one hasn't been axed as part of 'cost cuts'.
Nina went off in September and did a Davina McCall and looked like she was going to give birth live on air. Romilly looked like she had been pregnant for about 2 weeks and it feels like shes had about a month off, whereas it felt like Nina was pregnant forever and it feels like she has been off forever.
If Nina does return (and I am expecting her to in the next month or so as you can take up to 6 months off) it will be interesting to see how they staff Nina, Romilly and Lucy, as well as Katie on the Evening News. Katie should definitely stay as the main cover for EN imo, shes much better than the rest, including Mary.
I expect Nina will appear on London Tonight as well. Alex Hyndman has been the main female presenter for the past couple of months.
I never knew she did London Tonight, I thought that was only Katie. But if she returns to one she'll probably return to the other.
With all the females they have (which have shown in the past few months they are quite necessary) they should take it as a message to do a shake up with the presenters to stop any situations like that in the future. That could also mean two presenters on the later bulletins at the weekend, almost 6m people watched Saturdays 10pm bulletin so perhaps they should have used that opportunity to promote News at Ten.
