I am disgusted about ITV's reduction of regional news. Why not go the whole hog and completely get rid of ITV Regional News, ITV?
I personally like the new look. It obviously cannot last for years on end otherwise it would look quite bland. Despite being slated, the Lunchtime News background sets the right tone.
As has been discussed: Friday 5th March 1999 was the date for the-then "final News At Ten" and the excellent "Early Evening News". A very sad date.
Sunday 7th March 1999 was another sad date - the last day of "ITN News".
You can clearly tell ITV has done more harm to its national news over the last decade than good and I feel very sorry for ITN for that to happen. ITN's news once a beacon of hard-hitting news reports now relegated to cheap news.
I do not like the fact that the newscasters share the news story. It should be done in turns.
It also irritates me the time taken to say "Visit our website for more information at itv.com/news", you can add another story in the News In Brief section. I do not go on itv.com or that many websites because I do not see the point, but it gets drummed into you that many times. What about the many people who don't use the Internet who want to find out more news? Why not a strap coming on to the screen saying "More information on Teletext page 135"?
Also, News At Ten should be the only bulletin with two newscasters. Mark Austin and Julie Etchingham are good but not that effective.
If anything, the only head-to-head bulletin should be at 1 o'clock: News At One with Katie Derham? The Evening News moved back to 5.40, to fill a whole in ITV's crap schedule, presented by Mark Austin and Mary Nightingale alternally? And News At Ten with Alastair Stewart and Moira Stuart try and poach her, at least .

Generally speaking that doesn't bother me as they only plug it in the way the BBC would plug the News Channel. However one night last week when there was an emergency number for something (it was either the US plane crash or the Bushfires), rather than giving out the number they redirected to the website, which was rather unnecessary.

NE
the Inland Revenue of course.
I'm surprised "McMahon" didn't call for ITV News to broadcast on analogue only . Why do people on here constantly want to turn back the clock?
