Good job from Julie and James to hold it together for the 6:30, just a shame that the pope wasn't announced on the program!

Are they going to do updates tonight?

Be interesting to see how they use the studio next week for the Budget, and if they do anything graphics wise. I think in recent years they've just been barely amended ITV News titles rather than anything more creative.

I've never been a fan of the rather clunky and awkward BBC News Budget graphics used in the last few years, but it is nice that they can come up with special graphics while easily tying it into the wider BBC News brand. I can't remember the last time ITV used special presentation for the budget, must be a fair few years ago now. In their favour though, I find ITV much more watchable and engaging when it comes to Budget coverage.

Doesnt the regional news normally have half an hour and national news 15 minutes when there is a 45 minute slot?

Some weeks, yes. Other weeks, National News is longer.

I think they go for one or the other as one of the bulletins being 30 minutes long means they can have a break within that bulletin, but if they were 20 and 25 minutes long they'd only be able to have a break between the bulletins.

Absolutely agree regarding the BBC - their budget graphics have been horrendous for years.

Their current election graphics aren't much better either (IMO).

Good to see Charlene White doing an evening bulletin. Guessing she was on London before as its being broadcast from the London set?

Must be her first national newscast this year? Andrea Byrne did both last Saturday so I would presume the same today. Whereas the senior Sunday newscaster does not do both.

Re the set: I think the lower desk works well for lunchtime & now weekends whereas the higher desk is more newsier for the main 6:30 and NAT programmes.

Second. 5th January was the last time she presented evening bulletins.
