Yeah you are right sorry.

I was just looking through some pages, and now that the new look has settled in. I now think the 2004 look looked so much more professional with the graphics.

The newswall worked so much better. Now it looks very messy, especially with that stupid clock face around the studio floor.

They could have made a really nice background with the new look graphics, a dark teal with lighter light beams slowly animating. Also there were no restrictions with the previous look, now a lot of camera angles dont work.

Have to dissagree with this. The new look is cleaner, crisper, brighter fresher and more welcoming. It creates an immense amount of depth which makes the studio look huge.
The overall graphics package has been cleaned up, simplified and is now more coherent than (IMO) any other news organisation.

I DO think that sometimes the don't use the wall to its best advantage and that sometimes the use of vt to illustrate the stories can lead to a messy look, but the example captures differ in that one is a graphic treatment and the other a vt split. When the use a graphic inset treatment it works much better than the old style.

Also think its kinda irrelevent whether the old look was any good or not. It's been redesigned - move on. If there are changes to be made, suggest looking to the future, not the past! Smile

Faye Barker has been back at Calendar for the last few weeks. Yesterday reporting on and taking part in a 'top bombing' event, diving off a diving board wearing a swimming costume. One for Current Buns there!

EDIT: In fact they've already got the caps Laughing

Is it me or does the right side of the studio look darker than the left??? Maybe a light overhead of the desk or something

Current Buns already had the caps an hour or so posted on the message board with a video. Not surprisingly it went down a storm!

Request: Does anyone have or could anyone please get a grab of today's Lunchtime News (Tuesday). I'm after the shot of guest Jane Tomlinson stood with a floor manager just before the third break. Thanks (and cookies to anyone who can do it for me!)

I'm sure when you are talking about a difference of only 100,000+ people it really doesn't signify any real difference in the service - just the timing of the programme in relation to other broadcasts around the same time.

In an audience of (potentially) 60M people, 100,000 represents a very minor advantage in terms of quality of coverage. For example, I watch the ITV News on Sundays, simply because it is during the early evening (6:30pm), I don't particluarly want to wait for BBC's National/Local offering around 7:30-8:00pm.

Er, don't necessarily agree with you there. 100,000 viewers is not an insignificant number of viewers given the competitiveness of network news. It's about 2.5% of 4 million viewers. You can't equate 100,000 viewers as an insignificant number because of the potential audience of the population the country! You need to measure it as against the total number of television viewers at that moment. This is why broadcasters (and particularly schedulers and advertisers) are generally less inclined to take note of audience figures and much more likely to work with audience share .

And besides, I'm sure fans of the 24 hours news channels would not consider 100,000 viewers something to be sniffed at. It's often more than the highest audience for any of those channels on most days...

Any sign of the ITV News breaking news team since the end of the News Channel? Have any non-scheduled broadcasts happened at all?

Has there been any news that would warrant it?
