Yes when extra troops were sent to Afghanistan he reflected on teh history of the troubles over the years.

I remember he was on a couple of Months ago with a special And Finally feature about Afghanistan, though he no longer works for ITN, he said on his Report that he now does Charity work for a group that works with Aid in Afghanistan, due to the fact he was ITN's Main reporter during the War that happened there in the 1980's.

I dont usually watch the Nightly News since Mark Austin took over but I noticed that he had an interesting sign off line:
"And they are tomorrows headlines and thats tongihts news"...I liked it

Umm, because the news ends at 11 each night. Just another of those "I hate TV news phrases" for Mr Baron.

At about 1.10pm after the ad break of the Lunchtime News, a promotion usually airs for Loose Women explaining what's coming up at 1.30pm. Well today for some reason it didn't play. Instead we had black for 10 seconds, a countdown clock (with 4:3, 16:9 etc) and then a Scottish TV breakdown slide. It then cut to the news a few seconds into the music.

Did the other ITV regions have this?

The same thing happened on ITV1Wales and therefore the rest of the network feed. We got to see a black clock ticking down which had the term LNN 60 across the top and then it faded into a clock with Loose Women across the top - both in white text. The news then appeared.
