According to the Radio Times, Andrea Catherwood is back at ITV News this weekend.

Wouldn't be surprised - she's been off for quite a while now. There's an exclusive with her on the front page of the Mail today.

Alistair excelling himself on the Lunchtime News Pulse, he should be given his own bulletin. He is really good with this type of journalism, covering people's views and reacting quickly. He also did a great impression of the Queen, which almost set Katie off. He's down to do the Budget special next Wednesday, i wonder if he will now become more of a regular feature on the Lunchtime news?

I guess he will now Steve Scott's gone to ITV West - and of course you also don't have the complication now of if Alistair does the Lunchtime News he can't do his ITV NC show!

A few minutes after you posted that, he fluffed his lines after a report was cut half way through (timing issue I suspect). It ended with him saying something along the lines of "I didn't know the report was going to end there, as you probably guessed!".

You don't often see a newsreader showing a personality!

That's one of his traits that I really like - he often goes out of his way to explain any faults. It completely goes against the idea that you should gloss over problems, but it shows how professional he is in treating the viewer like they have some intelligence.

In my opinion.

Yeah he is a very good presenter, very much a personal approach - give him the Nightly and let Nick present the LN on his own, he was much better when he single-headed the bulletin.

Evening should be Mark & Katie or Mark & Mary, with the other heading London Tonight with Alastair.

They could do a Sky News Today and bring in another experienced pair of hands to work alongside Derham and Owen on the LTN and ake it a three-presenter programme.

How about this guy?

It was good to see Sandy Gall on ITV News a few weeks back. Also Ken Rees reporting on the Yorkshire Ripper case. It seems ITV News like to call on the old guard to do a spot of nostalgic reporting.

Did she say anything along the lines of 'it's good to be back,' etc.or is she back to her rigid old self?
