Why are there always so many technical problems with ITV News programmes? Problems with opt outs etc should be far less frequent.

The general consensus is that the regional opt-outs seem to be much smoother on ITV than the BBC.
It is very rare for ITV to cock them up - but when they do they must affect ALL regions - due to the way it occurs.

What is there holding screen now - the blue globe used to work quite well when they cocked things up and could just spin for 10 seconds without making it look a bodge job!
It's the one thing that has gone downhill with the revamp IMO - the opt-outs.
The switch of headline beds is now very noticable on some regions, while in the past it was always pretty seemless (unlike the BBC's which has always been dodgy!).
Also, with the regional bulletin opts the switch back just doesn't work as well now it's just a studio shot, rather than a graphic.

IIRC the background of the clock animating was used before it just froze after a couple of seconds.
I thought that the regions now take the bed feed from Network - London certainly seem to?
On another note; how exactly does the opt-out work? Is a time set for the switch, and the previous show finishing later expected caused the regions to come on too early?
Or does someone just flick a switch as presumably the beginning of the opt-out signals the end of the recorded headlines?

I watched the evening news tonight, as I dont usually watch it, and felt really disappointed with it. I seen very little news content there with about 4 or less stories being covered followed by the entire second half being about the greenhouse effect
I was very suprised

Firstly, what is the briefing studio and secondly did the viewer actually see Mary walk to it? Anybody got any caps please?

Intresting stuff tonight after Lawrence Mgintys reports name - 3 Degrees. Mary walked from the edge of the newswall into The Breifing studio. Would this have been recorded ?
