I would like to see these presenters as the main ITV lineup:

Nicholas Owen
Nina Hossain
Alistair Stewart
James Mates
Lauren Taylor
Andrea Catherwood

I am not keen on Mary, Felicity, Mark and Steve Scott.

The Lunchtime News should revert back to 30 mins aswell, and get back its proper presentation...

Arrow Similarly, why do the regional weather forecasts continue where there is no regional news - most notably in the afternoon before CITV and at weekends after the late ITV bulletin.

Probabaly because the weather forcasts are generally recorded but the news would be live. They probabaly dont want to have to make the regional news teams work late nights at the weekend but they can just as easily record the weather forcast earlier in the day.

Is the Morning News back to the 30 minutes, or is it still a 5 minute summary?

John

It was back to 30 mins today. The ITV News Channel style lives on as the programme was "Live with Sian Jones"

Owen only did Thursday morning

When it was a 5 minute summary last year, what did they broadcast on the ITV News Channel instead of the hour's worth of Morning News repeats?

Does anybody think the ITV News studio will actually even change ?Apart from a background it might not.
Also,if they do will pictures be released ? and if they are re-furbishing the set will ITV news use the Virtual studio or a cso...

Er... isn't there quite a bit of free time in the main studio nowadays? Couldn't they change the set overnight or between bulletins? And anyway, surely it'll be a graphics-based revamp?

Well, they spent a lot of money on the theatre of news, and it is really good, so it would be a shame for ITV News to get rid of it so soon. When you see the newswall, you know it's ITV News, for me it is a kind of trademark.

They're not getting rid of the newswall!

I'm not expecting any more than a change in the background graphics used on the newswall (in it's final few weeks the ITV NC had virtually phased out the old blue square background), and perhaps the walkway being carpeted.

If the news channel had stayed on air I think they'd have tried to incorporate a couple more presenting areas, but for just the ITV1 bulletins there isn't really much point.

Someone said the graphics are going green, but personally I hope they don't change them majorly. Remember how awful the last graphics looked when they changed from red/blue to blue/yellow?

I wouldn't want to see much change, basically use the 3 female presenters (Katie, Nina and Mary) across the Lunchtime and Evening news as none of them seem to work a 5 day week, move Lucy Alexander back to London Tonight and of course put Alastair Stewart on the News at 10:30.

In regards to Sport and Weekends, have Felicity Barr presenting the 10:30 sport Mon - Thurs, then have her on Saturday bulletins for sport as well. Have Steve Scott presenting the sport on Friday's 10:30, and have him presenting the weekend news bulletins.

I'd make Steve Scott second presenter of the Lunchtime and Evening News, and James Mates second presenter of the 10:30 News. Andrea Catherwood could be a last resort for weekday bulletins and also she could co-present the Sunday evening news with Steve.

So:

Lunchtime News: Nicholas Owen and Katie/Nina/Mary
Evening News: Mark Austin and Katie/Mary/Nina
Nightly News: Alastair Stewart (Sport with Felicity/Steve)

Saturday:

Lunchtime bulletin: Felicity Barr
Evening Bulletin: Steve Scott and Felicity Barr
Late Bulletin: Steve Scott

Sunday:

Lunchtime bulletin: Andrea Catherwood
Evening bulletin: Steve Scott and Andrea Catherwood
Late bulletin: Steve Scott

London Tonight: Alastair Stewart and Lucy Alexander
London Today: Owen Thomas
London Tonight at 10:30: Lucy Alexander
Weekend London Bulletins: Carrie Frais

Maybe they repeated a hour's worth of five minute summaries Laughing
