I think people need to rid themselves of this idea that people on the news are only happy if they're presenting. James Mates, Bill Neely and Shiulie Ghosh are primarily reporters, which is presumably what they entered the trade to do - I'm sure they're just as happy, if not happier, out reporting than being in the studio presenting.

Yes but id be happier if Shuilie was presenting as she is my favourate out of the female presenters at ITV News. Wink

I have no real opinion on Shuilie, as I feel that she has little character when presenting - I am neither pro nor anti Ghosh. Her position will be unaffected anyway, as she was merely on duty occasionally to "fill in the gaps", as it were.

I know what you mean, but I just really like her presenting.

I like Andrea, Nina and Felicity as well. Not fussed on Mary but she is ok - but she always sounds like she is going to cry when she speaks. Dont like Katie much at all.

Well Jez, IMO you're just plain strange Laughing

I had wandered off to the BBC in Katie's absence so it's great to have her back.
That said I can also happily watch any of Felicity (whilst she is still there), Carrie Frais, Alastair Stewart and Nicholas Owen, and Andrea at the weekends, but beyond that the other main ITV presenters don't do much for me.

You'd be surprised how many people have shared Jez's view regarding Katie in the past!

I don't see what Katie does to provoke people into such views really. Yes, she does seem to have an obsessive nodding condition (not as much lately, however), but I see her as a rather professional and confident newsreader.

I find Katie Derham to be very false and patronising when she is reading the news. .

She is not great, I admit, but she is better than Nina.

I was just about to say exactly the opposite.

Sure news readers can't/shouldn't become emotionally involved with the content of every story but I find Katie warm and think that she is genuinely nice.

Some other news readers appear to do no more than turn up and read the autocue. I know that it is just a job but you get the impression that they're bored and would rather be elsewhere. They leave me totally cold.

Katie has started to grow on me but I still prefer Nina, Andrea and Felicity. I don't really have an opinion on Mary.

I'm sure your local chemist will be able to give you a cream for that.

I'm not the only person she irritates, am I then?

Definitely a case for the derhamotologist.

Who's presenting today's bulletins then, is it Nina again?

She certainly presented the bulletin for Jonathan's show today.
