It'll be interesting if something does happen on Monday, I'm still not sure that copying the News At Ten is a great idea, as I've said before for winter months they would look exactly the same. I think I'd prefer a graphical background again. They can keep messing with the set, but the problem in my eyes at the moment comes down to the mish mash of looks and graphics used. The titles have never been that great, an update to the cube titles using a similar look to the News At Ten globe would look nice, and continue the graphics from there.
Is everyone happy with the desk? It's the only thing that has been kept for the 5 years of the current set, yet most probably one of the easiest things to change, but no one ever seems to mention it.
Is it just me or does the background on the Lunchtime News Summary today, look less blue than it usually does?
Well, when the blue atrium first made an appearance, I remember the daytime one had less blue, with more blue on the nightime one, but a few months later, the daytime one had more blue, but kept changing for a few weeks. So maybe they have been trying the new one out, and went back to one with lesser blue.

Any trying out of backgrounds would be done in off air rehearsals, not on live news broadcasts.

No, i did not say that. I was saying they might have been trying a new background, then went back to the original one ready for broadcast, which had less blue.
Mark Austin wtires in his Daily Mirror collumn today :
"we've been doing it standing up for six or so years and now it's back to the future because, from Monday, I'll be sitting down again. I'm talking about reading the news - it's all change on the ITV Evening News tomorrow. I'm sure it will be a huge relief to the woman viewer who wrote to say she hates all the standing up. "I can only imagine you're suffering from piles," she said"
So it looks as if we are returning to the sitting down age.
Yes, a shame. I think they had got the level just about right (but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised tomorrow).
Whilst I'm sure the individual Mark is quoting had no direct bearing on the change I do hope they haven't tried too hard to cater for all opinions as the art is in knowing which ones to ignore.
I wonder if the odd couple of sitting down opening sequences they've done were tests for a mini-revamp? I know they test things off screen but perhaps they did it once or twice on air to see if any feedback was given from 'us' types?
Interesting about a new look, although I wouldn't hold my breath for it being anything drastic or else we would have heard by now. I'd also make a guess and say it will first appear during the lunchtime bulletin first because technically the morning bulletin is the last bulletin of the day (9.25am-5.59am).
I presume that the walkway will go (finally) as it will no longer serve a purpose if they are sitting down.
